What's a good way to deal with meals at restaurants which are of course way too big to eat. I am going to be dining out with people who don't know of my op and I don't want to tell them. The problem is that I will be sitting there with a massive plate of food-even entree size is too big and not eating much. Has anyone got any advice? Should I ring the restaurant and see what they can offer, see if they can do a Soup for example, or???

I haven't been out to eat but a couple of times since my surgery ( I am nearing 13 weeks)...I use the I'm not feeling that well excuse and I am doing WW again to explain why I am not eating what I did once upon a time...and box up what I have left over..

Good luck!

Most restaurants have a Soup. I usually ordered off the appetizer menu. There are a million things you can say in case someone else brings up how little you are eating:

I'm on a diet my Dr. prescribed. (Dr. wants you to not eat over a certain amount so that's true)

My stomach feels a little upset (It will if you try to eat to much!)

I'm full.

Lots of time people simply don't pay attention to what you are eating.

I eat out often with family and friends. I often order an appetizer and that is plenty. Lots of people do that are not sleeved. I often will look at the menu before I go so I can see everything available to me there, I will often see things I may have missed. Often, they will have the nutritional information online as well.

I have always been able to find something I can eat that is yummy too! Once I really had a hard time finding something so I asked for a grilled chicken breast and steamed or grilled veggies. It was no problem.

You will do great! It's kind of overwhelming the first time or two but it gets easier as you go.

Good luck!

You can always ask for them to modify the food. Also I see a lot of people who ask for a box from the start and put most of the portion away before eating.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
