Recommended Posts

3 mos out. I have had toast and it was fine. I want to stay away from yeasty bread so I haven't even tried yet.

I had G S on the 02-14-2013 I can eat bread but just not much I will be 60 years old this month I am losing weight so slow I have sugar and high BP so maybe that is why I am losing so slow" I really need help I seem not to have a bowel movement until I take a laxative and them only once or twice a week and that is only with a lax, I seem to stay in a stall one moment down 5 lb. and them up 4lb. I think it has to do with me not being able to go the bathroom that much. will my bowel movement ever get normal again? oh yea I am only down 37lb.

I don't like to eat bread because it hurts in my stomach when I do. Theres an arabic bread called markook that is paper thin that I can eat but rarely do (carbs). They have it in Walmart . There's also pita bread which is pretty thin compared to regular bread but I don't like to eat it either causes pain for me. I'm 7 months out. I guess each person is different And think that bougie size may have something to do with how well you can tolerate bread since it swells in the stomach when eaten.

I only ate bread those two times. Other then that I haven't. The good thing is that I don't feel like I need to have bread. But I know if I get a taste if Pasta it will be All over.

Try cloud bread aka oopsie rolls...no carbs

I'm 6 months out and have always loved bread products pre op. Post op breads, pastas, rice just don't appeal to me because of the fullness factor more than anything else. I will do a slice of WW toast with almond butter occasionally. My go to carbs would be crackers like rykrisp, akmak, melba toast with some kind of Protein (i.e. tuna, cottage cheese, any cheese :) ). Haven't done popcorn but i plan to soon.

I do also have a small bowl of high Fiber Cereal about 2 times a week ;). I fortunately tolerate everything well.

Why do so many of eat you eat carbs like rice and bread after a few weeks or months just because you can tolerate it? I'm of the understanding that sticking to Protein and then introducing healthy carbs like vegetables will get you to your goal faster and healthier.

Yes, sometimes I crave a bit of Pasta or even yogurt with fruit but staying in ketosis by avoiding sugar is so successful. And will be a healthier lifestyle down the line. Except for an occassional piece of birthday cake i swear I'll never go back to refined sugar and "white" carbs like rice and potatoes again!

Though I have had bread or crackers only a couple of times in six months, carbs in moderation are fine on my plan. Good for you that you are following what works for you. I have lost over 90 pounds in six months, so I ( and my doctor and NUT) don't think some bread or carbs is going to hurt me. Moderation is key. If you don't touch it because of your plan, that is great. I see more and more people that seem to be very preachy about their diet compared with someone else's. Do what works for you.

I'm 11 wks and have been eating bread since wk 8. If someone told me Id never be able to eat bread, rice, Pasta, and potatoes again, Id be really sad. I usually eat it toasted (I can usually finish about 3/4 of 1 pc) but have times had an untoasted sandwich or 1/2 biscuit. No problems whatsoever.

Now, last nite I had a problem with a flour tortilla but I think that was more the eating 3/4 of a soft taco in about 5 mins. I waited till I was starving to eat. Bad idea.

I am two months post opt. I am able to eat bread. I just rarely eat it because of the carbs. I have not had a problem eating most meat but beef is a problem, ground beef is horrible. I have eliminated it from my food list all together. .( The small portion I do eat). I am having trouble with bowel movements. Do any one else have that problem. I'm trying not to always have to drink milk of magnum (taste like chalk). .

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
