Is it possible I have already stretched my new sleeve?

Recommended Posts

Was sleeved May 28th. Starting weight 194. Today 185. Still on full liquid diet (good thing smelling food doesn't add weight hee hee) I have no problem drinking an 11 oz Protein Drink in an 1.5hr. Greek yogurt 5 oz can be done in 2 settings. Vitamin Water with 42 gram New Whey added in to insure 80 Proteins a day. I feel full. Totally miss flavors (If I ever see a chocolate, strawberry or Van shake again it will be too soon) but I see soooo many saying 2 to 3 oz at a time.... Lord I hope I haven't stretched this thing already.

Firstly, Ditch the New whey Protein, it's not good quality Protein that your body can use.

Second, I could drink 80 ounces a day while still in the hospital... How much Fluid you can drink has nothing to do with sleeve size. It's related to inflammation, those who can drink less have more inflammation of the sleeve

It is very difficult to stretch your sleeve and takes time to do so. Remember that when you are on liquid phase, liquids leak through the pyloric sphincter at the bottom of the stomach and therefore you will usually not have any restriction at this phase. Good Luck.

I think it depends on the type of food. I can eat 6 oz of yogurt in 20 min, It takes me the same amount of time to eat 2 oz of chicken or beef Jerky.

Its not stretched. I am sure your not self abusing.

You aren't going to feel the sense of restriction from liquids. Once you get to solids you will be drastically reduced in the amount you can take in. And then over time you will increase your calories to an amount that will maintain your weight loss (if you work the sleeve the way it is supposed to be used)

Don't worry about how you feel right now. I am 8 months out and have upped my calories to approximately 800 a day and I can have anywhere from 2 - 3 ounces of Protein at a meal with maybe two - 4 bites of vegetable. So after approximately 7 months of solids I still can't have that much at a time, and you will be the same. I easily drink 64 ounces per day in addition to the food (not within 30 minutes before or after food).

Your stats look very similar to mine at your stage. Just keep following your doctor and NUTs instructions and try not to worry! You'll do great.

I was may 22 and I can eat 4 oz cottage cheese with no problem. I also drink with no problem. I've been trying to find my binder but can't find it since I just moved. But I was wondering is there a suggested amnt of calories per phase? I can't remember n don't see my NUT till the end of the month.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
