I was sleeved 2/19/13 and my hair loss has been getting worse and worse every day. I've been taking Biotin and trying my best to get in at least 60g of Protein a day. This is a picture of how much hair I loose in each shower. Is this normal? Should I be worried? I feel I'll be bald in no time!

It looks a little less than I was losing it lasted about three months for me...the Biotin helped with the regrowth throughout and I got highlights to help disguise my thinness at almost 8 months it has almost stopped and gotten thick again. Just a phase and I was the only one who noticed...well besides my finace if he showered before I got my pile out of the drain haha

Loosing my hair was a huge fear of mine and it happened. About 4 months out, it started falling out- and kept falling out for a couple of months. It sounds kinda sick, but I saved it for a weeka nd it was enough to fill a baggie. Luckily I had thick hair to begin with. I am now a year out and it is finally coming back. It is in an ackward stage- lots of short new hair and it is coming in curly- so doing my hair has been a challange ... but I couldn't be happier. I do drink plenty of Water, I take Biotin and get in plenty of Protein 60-80 per day.

I started losing about that much every day at the 3 month mark. Im now at 6 months and Ive stopped losing except for the normal Hair loss that everyone has but it hasnt started growing back yet. Luckily I too had a lot of hair so I was the only one that noticed except my hubby that had to clean it from the drain. I of course take my Biotin, I also take this http://www.sephora.com/phytophanere-hair-nails-dietary-supplement-P2884?skuId=1438068 from Sephora. I dont know if it helped but in my mind it made me feel better.

Wow - that is amazing! I'm a guy and at 55, with a full head of hair that I do not want to lose, I too am troubled by Hair loss. Was sleeved on 2/28/13 and my hair really seems to be falling out a lot. Since my hair is only about an inch long it doesn't seem to compare to yours, but it feels like a lot to me.

Given our close dates - how are you doing with food? I am really disappointed - all food just does not agree with me? I can barely get any food in without getting super bloated. Really takes the fun out of eating! Suppose that is a good thing - but it really makes me feel deprived and long term, that isn't good (for me) either.

Aside from the Hair loss I'm doing really well. I've lost 74 pounds as of yesterday morning! I've been okay with foods, except I've developed an allergy to avocado :-( I used to eat them all the time and about a month ago I had a terrible reaction and now I can't even touch one without vomiting and itching for days!

It seems like the norm to lose between 4 months and 7 months. I was prepared, yet still mortified at the amt I lost. I'm going on 6 months and it's slowing down. I have waist length hair so after washing my hair the amt of my loss looked like a basket full

Yeah the Hair loss is horrible.. tho expected.. ive been on a hair loss for 3 months now..and its getting very very thin. ive been taking Biotin for a long time and another supplement. I get a baggie full every week.. its horrible.. my hubby says you cant tell.. but he would say that just so i dont worry about it.. I sure hope it stops soon.. I dont know how much more I can take.. its depressing.. but on the other hand.. I would rather have thin hair than be overweight again.. that wont be happening... I just have to grin and bear it.. tho its very hard to do every time I brush my hair.. I want to cry.. pick your poison.. Hair? or weight?

This is a hard subject for me, in fact I put off surgery for almost 10 years because of it. I have thinning hair anyway because of PCOS. You can see my scalp as it is. So, losing it, terrifies me but I got to the point that if I am in the ground, does it matter what I had on my head? Luckily for most it will grow back and you'd never know you had an issue. For me, I don't know if it will grow back and even if it does, it was thinning to begin with. It is very hard, but try not to focus on it. Just know it's like anything else, it will work itself out. Like everyone here says, protien protien protien. I try to get in at least 80 grams a day.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
