Finally Told My Mom

Recommended Posts

I have been dreading telling my Mom that I am having the Lap Band but because I need her to come take care of my 3 kids while dh and I are away in Mexico I had to tell her. To my surprise she was very understanding and supportive. I asked her not to tell anyone except for my step dad because I just dont want to deal with the negative reactions from people in my family, although I told a small white lie. I told her I was getting it done in San Diego instead of Mexical. I think she is just happy dh and I are paying for her and my step dad to come here to Hawaii to keep the kids that she hasnt quite taken it all in because normaly she is the pesamist. She and my sister have never had weight issues as a matter of fact my mom just lost 15lbs and she only weighed 115lbs before hand. Gosh I wish I had her and my sisters motabolism. Anywho I just had to share:D

Good luck, Becka. And let me know if your folks back out. You can fly me to Hawaii and I will babysit for you while you're in Mexico.

Becka, my family is also small. My mom is 78 and still weighs 128 pounds. I don't think she has been over 135 in her whole life. I am adopted so maybe that explains it! My family doesn't know I have had this done and they are picking me up at the airport tomorrow and will have to carry my suitcases full of their presents! So, it looks like I am telling them tomorrow! I have told my friends the same white lie...when asked where I am having my surgery done / did, I replied " I am flying / flew to San Diego to have it done. That's the truth, right???

Happy holidays and best wishes. PS....I am a great babysitter as well!

Oooo, ME!! ME!! I will babysit... I promise, the kids will survive...

:]

Somehow, I don't think you will have any problem finding tons of willing sitters... and people that won't judge you, either.

Good luck with your surgery!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
