So getting my Protein in isn't turning out to be very easy. Before I was banded I figured with a couple of Protein Shakes a day and i'm good to go. However, today is my first day on thick/full liquids and this morning I had about a 1/4 cup of my Protein Drink and I thought my stomach was going to explode, i was sooooo full! I'm trying to get my liquids in, I'm trying to get my protein in, and its just not working. I get these pains in my chest like I just ran a marathon. Then I can't have anything more to eat or drink for a long time.....I feel like I'm going to ruin something in there! What should I do???

that is exactly how i feel!! I'm sorry for you, but i'm glad to see that it is normal. i thought i seriously had something wrong with me.

WE are banded the same day, so maybe we are going through the same things.

Are you still sore? How is the energy? I have zero, can hardly walk to the bathroom. I haven't slept since the surgery. HOw are you feeling?

Sweethot, it does seem that we are going through pretty much the same things. I have very little energy too, and am quite tired, which I assume is from not getting enough Protein? But still, its soooo hard to get the protein and even enough drinks in. I hope the fact that we are both going through the same thing means that it is fairly normal. I really hope I can get some energy back soon. As far as the chest pains when eating, I;m going to have to drink MUCH slower and take in like a few tablespoons I guess. NOT that that will help me get in the protein but maybe then I can avoid the pain. Ya know?

Actually yes, I'm still sore too. I was getting low on the pain killers so now I'm just taking liquid tylenol and it doesn't have quite the same effect. I was banded December 18 (5 days ago) in Salt lake City UT.

Protein is tough, I gag at the thought of another shake, my lip quivers at the thought of adding a scoop to apple juice or anything else. I even got expensive protein puddings. I am so sensative to the protein taste. I am using expensive, high quality stuff, can't even get it in the store. And the thought makes me want to vomit.

I've had no protein today, just Water, tea, and about 4 tbl sp . of chocolate pudding (no protein) with FF Cool whip on top. I'm stuffed, but dizzy with no energy.

Don't get too hung up on whether or not you are getting all of your Protein in. I would sip all day long. Right now you are in the healing stage. You will not die if you don't get in 60 grams a day right off the get go. I would take it slow. You'll do better after the swelling goes down. Hope you went to Dr. McKeen in Utah. He is really good. Good luck.

What you are experiencing is very typical. Very few people can get the Protein that you need for the first few weeks.....don't worry about it. You are not expected to get it all in yet. Right now you need to sip and rest and heal and keep hunting liquid Proteins you like.

Have you tried the nectar Protein powder.....it makes a thin drink in many flavors....my fave is Fuzzy Navel - peachy, tastes similar to Tang. I drink it straight or mix with SF Lemonade (Chrystal Lite/Kookaide, etc).

When you get to the mushies stage you'll be worrying about eating too many carbs.....that's normal, too. Carbs like potato Soup, etc are about our only choices at that stage so just eat them and enjoy them...it's only a short while.

Take care and best wishes.....

5 days ago! Your stomach needs to heal for 6 weeks. Right around the corner is cream Soups. That helped me get through the rough Patches. Keep tough u can do it! Fat free puddings and cream of wheat helps too. Good luck

Has anyone tried the new K2O drinks made by Kelloggs. They have 5grams of Protein per bottle and taste great..... I like drinking them now and I haven't had to start any liquids diets yet....... I haven't tried the Isopure yet... Where do you get that from. I want to try it too!

I have had trouble getting in liquids and protien. Now I have a really bad cold and really don't want to do anything but lay in bed. I am wanting something hot, so this morning I pureed a little bit of bean Soup. (10 gr protien). I just want to fight off this cold and enjoy Christmas at this point! I am flying to my parents Christmas morning, and I definately don't want to make them sick! Happy Holidays Everyone!

Bandiva,

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Hopefully your cold will be a quickie.

Thanks for all your replies. I was able to stop stressing out about the Protein so much and realizing each day gets a lil easier to get things down....now I'm worried about just how MUCH easier it will be to get things down......If its not one thing it's another eh? lol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
