I live in San Diego and am still doing research about everything. My insurance will be changing and I won't be able to start appointments and everything until the first of August :-(. I keep telling myself to use all of this time to get my mind ready for changes. I'd love to hear about your process and what doctors and things you are using. I'm a kaiser member so I'm not sure ow different everything will be. How long did it take you to do all of the referrals and everything and get a date set for surgery?

I am eating yogurt, s/f Jello, and creamy Soups. I found a cheddar one that I am gonna try today. I can not wait until Monday when I can have some cheese! Unfortunately I can not go to the support group. I have school at night. How did your first post op appt go? I was down 20lbs

Yes I can't wait for monday either for the same reason. Were you down 20lbs from surg or 20 lbs grom start of the pre op diet and everything? I am down 23 from pre op diet added. So 13 from surg. Since I started my protien on monfay I haven't lost anything but the doc says its because I'm gaining my muscle back so Its a good thing and not to worry.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
