Hello All,

It's been a minute since I was last on the site so I thought I would stop in and share my progress and latest discoveries.

I'm now 4 months post-op and have lost about 50 pounds. I've been averaging about 2 pounds a week and so far any stalls I've encountered have not lasted longer than 2 weeks. The hair shedding started promptly at the 3 month point. Even though I knew it was coming, to visually see the amount of hair during washing raised my anxiety level. I was already taking 10mcg of Biotin but a friend suggested I add Zinc and I ramped up my Protein intake to about 90g. I'm not sure if it's made a difference but the shedding has definitely slowed, not as much in the comb, sink or on the floor.

Because I get tired of Protein Shakes, I'm always looking for new products to try. Here are a few of my new favorites that I use as Snacks in between regular meals or on the go:

OhYeah! Protein bar(Chocolate &Caramel tasted like a Snickers to me) - 190 cal, 15g protein, 4g sugar, 8g fat

Pure Protein Bar (Chocolate Peanut Butter) - 200 cal, 20g protein, 2g sugar, 6g fat

NEW whey Liquid Protein (grape, fruit punch) - 42g protein, 0 sugar, 0 fat (this product I found at GNC and comes in a 3.8 oz vial) I usually have to cut the taste with Water. Like it better than Isopure.

Everyone keep up the good work! In the words of a local personal trainer, "Let the mind, not the mirror, be the judge"

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
