Slow-losers/Low BMI ers.... do you ever reach goal?!?!

Recommended Posts

I am almost 4 months out and am down 27 lbs!! My first 5 weeks I lost 19 lbs, 2nd month- 5 lbs, 3rd-3 lbs. Ugh.... I'm so frustrated. I am okay with losing it slowly, I guess, if I know that I will actually get there. I am scared to death that it is just gonna stop completely. I just wanna hear from those that have actually gotten to goal slowly and how long did it take you? i know that everyone is different but am curious about low bmi'ers.....

thanks!

Hi, Moosewife--could you tell us your starting weight/BMI? I'm not a super-high BMI'er myself, and still pre-op, so I'm interested in this thread.

My height is 5'0". Starting weight 205, highest weight 218, current weight after almost 16 months is 145. I would like to be 130-135, but I'm lazy= don't exercise and don't always eat exactly as I should....I never wanted to feel like I was on a perpetual diet for life! So I'm happy with how far I have come without much actual effort. If I lose the last bit I do. If not I'm OK with that!! I've been stuck for about 6 months now give or take 2-3 pounds up n down. Size 12-14 l/xl to 4-6 s/m

Vixynne, my starting weight was 183-BMI of 32. I am currently at 155 and my goal is 125. My surgeon's goal for me was 136 but I've been lower than that just 7 years ago. Mommy794, did you lose really slow and how long in did you stop losing?

I am interested too! I am 5 days out and maxed out at 210 at surgery and am 5'6" and had BMI starting I think of 34 so I would hate to drop 40 and stop since I want to get to 140 pounds. I will try to kick it up when I go in a long stall but it's rad because I travel internationally so I will have to pack tons of products with me since most countries don't even know what skim milk is! Eating out 3 meals a day is a killer!

I pretty much lost slow the whole time. And at times I just felt like I was never even going to get where I am now but here I am. Like I said I haven't lost any thing to speak of in about 6 months so the first 10 months I lost the most.

I usually lose about a quarter lb a week and drop two lbs after my period. How much did you lose on average a week/month?

Idk how much in average I lost per week or month i tried not to drive myself crazy tracking it all. And I do I'm sure eat more carbs than I should. I just didn't want to feel deprived forever. I think after my daughters grad party Saturday I'm gonna do really low carb for awhile and try to lose this last bit.

Good luck. I'm trying my best myself to cut carbs as much as I can. They definitely slow the weight loss.

BMI prior to surgery was just under 36. I'm not quite 5'7", but almost. Weight, date of seminar, 228. Weight day before surgery, 205. I reached doctor's goal in 5 months, and my goal, five lbs less, a month later. Surgery was June 11, 2010. I've been maintaining for about 2.5 years. I go between 143 and 147. (Averaged 10 lbs per month after surgery, sometimes more, sometimes less, but slow and steady)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
