What does it feel like to be 'full'?

Recommended Posts

After you get sleeved (I haven't yet) does the 'full' feeling you get a lot like drinking a lot of Water and filling your stomach and feeling full or is it different? I can feel full eating something healthy but I can still be head hungry. Does that make sense? Like I'm full but somehow I can still find room for a bowl of ice cream with no problems. Please tell me THAT goes away with the sleeve? I'm just trying to be realistic about what to expect with the sleeve.

Let me put it this way, you know when you´re full and you still finnishes the plate with those extra bites that you really don´t need because you just can´t leave food? Well, with the sleeve, there is no chance to finnish anything when your tummy sais NO! That´s the moment it will hit you that overeating is not an option. That´s why I love my sleeve!

The sleeve helps, but we all have to fight, control and beat head hunger!

I know what you mean...I was worried too because before, I ate even when I was not hungry. With the sleeve...when you are full....you are done. You do have to eat slow (over 20 minutes). If you eat too fast then you are miserable in 20 minutes. It is a different kind of "full"....I think it is more intense.

I'm still on purée so I don't think I have felt the true fullness yet. But for me it feels like I have to burp, but like if I try to push the burp out food will come up. Like food is stuck in my throat. But it's not. Just pressure. I have not pushed my luck yet. Sticking to half cup portions.

Also sometimes the food just gets boring.

Example: last night we were eating out and I ordered a scoop of chicken salad on a bed of salad. My husband had a sandwich with potato salad. I used to really like the potato salad here. I ate my chix salad left most of the greens and was getting full. I tasted his potato salad (still very good). I was really full and he had two bites of potato salad left and offered it to me. I said sure because I really wanted it and at the last minute I declined and I am very glad I did. I was still uncomfortably full for 2 hours without eating the extra potato salad. You will learn how much you can eat very quickly.

I just had Chinese food with my sister today we were sleeved on feb 4. We shared broc and beef with fried rice. We had both been craving Chinese food. We maybe each had a fourth of a cup and were completely done. In the past we would have each had our own order, eaten all of it and still would have Wanted dessert. Some how for us the mental part is fixed. When you are full

in your stomach you will be done. we have both lost a total of 50 pounds and feel wonderful! Good luck on your surgery you will never regret it. My daughter is getting sleeved on June 10.

I am five weeks out. I can eat a lot more than I thought I would be able to. Some days I feel as though my doctor didn't cut enough. I eat several times a day according to the rules. Protein first and at least 60g of it. I don't drink 15 mins before or 30 mins after eating. I never tried to push to see how much my stomach can take but I'm DEFINITELY not one of these 3 tablespoons 400 calories and I'm full people. I can still eat a lot and its up to me to control my intake..I felt full only one. It felt like a pressure between my ribs down my throat. I laid down and it went away in half an hour..everyone's different..I'm still learning ad I go :-)

I very rarely even feel hungry - so I have to fight emotional eating. Feeling full after the sleeve is very different from feeling "full" before the sleeve. I am NOT able to eat extra even if I want it. It is painful and makes me feel awful. I had surgery on 9/10/12 and I can eat more now compared to just two months ago but NOTHING compared to 12 months ago!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
