I am 3 weeks post- op and incisions are healed. When is it ok to soak in a wonderful bath? My surgeon (in Mexico) never told me this. Thanks for any suggestions!

Your doc is in Mexico hmm I'm not a dr but I would just wait the six weeks and just continue taking a shower .. It's shocking that you didn't leave the hospital w instructions on what the care is after words about your wounds and bathing who ever does your follow up visit maybe u should ask them .. Because its important to do a follow which is a week to two week after surgery maybe at a month

I also had to wait six weeks until all my incisions were totally healed both after my sleeve and my laprascopic gallbladder removal. I remember waiting anxiously for the six week mark so that I could soak in the tub! :)

I think it depends in how your incisions were closed...I had dermabond and the rule was not until that peeled off (which was a week post-op for me) but then I had my drain site, which was removed almost a week post-op and my surgeon said no baths until that scabbed over (which I think was another 5 days...think I had my first bath at 2 weeks

Mine said 4 weeks for bath or swimming. Evidently no hard & fast timelines between Docs:)

Agreed! All docs are so different. I love soaking in a warm bubble-bath & specifically asked when a bath would be ok. They said I was fine taking a bath right after I got home from surgery, but to 1st make sure the adhesive glue was intact.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
