bsbcMI, the only way to get rewarded with a very fast surgery date is to eat yourself up to 50 and over bmi

and it doesn't matter what or how many co-morbidities you have, you can never get a quicker surgery date, the only thing that matters is exactly how fat you are

You do have choices. There are always choices. You can either comply with your insurance carrier or you can pay for it on your own. My insurance company required me to have a supervised diet for ONE YEAR.

Sadly, it appears as though you'll never get it.

who paid the surgeon for your surgery bottom line? i do get it, you dont thank you very much. im done arguing with you. you have your mind set on the fact that your employer took care of your WLS and not the insurance company; then you come on here bad mouthing insurance companies for not taking care of their policy holders when they took care of you. that is a hypocrite. youre like the self-proclaimed vegetarian who loves BLT sandwiches. nuff's said from me

Sam, please calm down. There's really no need to be so defensive and as it's painfully obvious you have no idea what I have my mind set on, please don't try to put words in my mouth. Read what I actually wrote and don't apply any internal 'Sam filter' to it. Thanks.

I never said that my insurance company didn't pay out for my surgery as you claim. They most certainly did. That has never been in dispute. The issue you seem to be having difficulty with is why they did so. They didn't pay because they wanted to help me, they did so because they were contractually obligated to by the agreement my employer negotiated with them.

Insurance companies are not benevolent organizations. They don't exist to help us, they exist to generate dividends for their corporate officers and shareholders. If they can deny a claim and not violate agreements with their policyholders, they will do so without hesitation or remorse. It's entirely in their best interests to do so as a corporation to bolster their bottom line.

If you want to believe that they are some wonderful institution that's out there to help people, that's entirely your right, just don't get upset when others disagree. Not everyone who disagrees with you is "stupid" or "uneducated" as you so eloquently stated earlier in the thread.

Now, I think I'm off to have some lunch. Perhaps a nice BLT will hit the spot. ;)

Yes, mayo with olive oil tastes great and is much better than miracle whip.

It's been demonstrated in evidence-based studies that bariatric surgery changes the way that beta cells function and helps people who have insulin-based disorders such as diabetes or PCOS. Some people even have some resolution to their issues (like going off diabetes meds) while they are still in the hospital--which of course is too quick for weight loss to have caused this. This is an emerging field and research is still being done' date=' but I find it very, very interesting. So hopefully the person who posted about her PCOS making it difficult to lose weight (which is also based on scientific studies) will see some biochemical and physiological changes that will help her lose weight.[/quote']

Thank you!!

Maybe it's just me.... But I don't think this person was trying to put anyone else down. I think he or she was just saying how different the insurance companies are with their requirements & we all can relate to one person getting approved in a day and surgery in a week while others wait for year or more.. I took it as all the ins co cares about is your weight.. Idk.. I wasn't offended by this post & I think that sometimes people just need a space to vent... And often what comes across in type is not how it was meant if it was spoken face to face because you don't get the benefit of hearing a persons tone be it joy, or anguish, or DESPAIR. I may not always like what someone says but I respect that their feelings are valid to them. Just my pov. :).

OH! i get it now! your EMPLOYER paid for your surgery not the insurance company your employer contracted with! MAKES TOTAL SENSE NOW! my question is why would your EMPLOYER even contract with an insurance company if they are paying everyones hospital bills? so do you have monthly premiums? do those premiums get paid to the insurance company or your EMPLOYER? just wondering because i want to start an insurance company where people pay me the premiums to me but their EMPLOYER pays all hospital bills. IM GONNA BE RICH! i understand what you are saying about your company negotiating a contract with said insuarance company. your employer is not paving the road and breaking down barriers by doing that' date=' everyones employer has done the same thing. you keep believing that the insurance company didnt pay for things and that your EMPLOYER took care of everything if that makes you feel better about things.[/quote']

Why are you being so mean? Just being so nasty to her is so uncalled for. It sickens me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
