Frustrated with leak

Recommended Posts

I have a leak. I have had one since March I am npo can't eat or drink and my surgeon had a JP drain put in me and is just letting my leak heal on its own. It is slowly healing so they say but I am just getting depressed and impatient it has been almost 3 months!!

It seems like we're in the same situation. I WA admitted into the hospital 3/24 and that's when they found out I had a leak, but I was feeling really sick for a long time before that. I'm also on tpn and have a jp drain. I actually gained 5 lbs since I started tpn. I'm pretty frustrated myself, the dr is letting my leak heal on its own too. I want to have a life again!! Oh and to top it off I'm losing my hair like crazy. I had to cut it short cos it got way too tangled in the hospital and I have a huge bald spot on the top of my head :/ but I guess as long as we are getting better we have to try and stay positive.

Yeah I am tired of feeling like I am part of a freak show.. Everyone looks at me funny bc I carry a backpack around with tubes hanging out of it ( my tpn).. I want my life back as well :-/ and I have recently started losing a ton of hair I actually just left a hair appt and I was watching my hair dresser take mounds of my hair out of her brush.. I am trying to stay encouraged although its hard sometimes when it seems as though there is no end to this!

I am so sorry this is happening to you both. I can't even begin to imagine how depressing and frustrating you feel. I hope y'all feel better and the leak heals fast I truly do. I don't get my surgery into Sept but this is what I'm mostly afraid of is getting a leak =(. My doctor said the chance if very slim but you just never know what if I'm that person. How you both feeling now are the drains out?

I'm the same. I still have the drain and not a lot of energy. I saw my dr on tue and he said I'll be having a ct scan in 2 weeks and if things look better hopefully s scope soon after. Keeping my fingers crossed.

i still have enteral feedings (j tube) and i can sympathize with the back pack thing. i keep my kangaroo joey and formula plus stuff for flushing on me. this is better than the tpn in the hospital (about 7 weeks not that i have counted correctly). i do not care about what people say or stare, it is just a b++ch to lug around. i am on for 14 hours but working up to 90ml/hour so it will decrease my time down to 10hours. hoping to go back to work (nurse at san quentin state prison) but looking for a new job. will have to run my pump at night so i am practicing nowadays. cannot think i can do my duties with a mic-key feeding tube in place but i will see if my doctor will clear me in july for august work. as for Hair loss, my surgery was 7-24-12 and i am still losing...but got a super cute short hair cut that i love...and it is less dramatic seeing the shorter pieces go down the drain!!!! good luck to all!!! with the high calories of tube feedings like tpn...i am still 10-15lb away from goal weight but wear a 6 or 8 and i am 5/5 ( I NEEDED TO LOSE ABOUT 65LBS OR SO) . moRE important is the nutrition. I AM SO TIRED OF BEING TIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!hang in there everyone!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
