Diana you're absolutely right. And one of the first questions the surgeon' date=' nutritionist and psychologist all asked is "do you have enough time to prepare your own meals". It doesn't have to be extravagant. Kids are very appreciative when they are taught to be. I'm certain your babies don't throw a fit cause they didn't get McDonald's today right? Right! :-)[/quote']

Lol nope they don't. We make our meals together. They love helping.

Same here. I am not going to make my kids addicted to fast food like I was. They never even had soda. I want to do whats best for them. I may be chubby but not my kids they eat well and I make a point of it.

You and I are definitely on the same page :-) I don't let them have soda either. My 14 year old made a nice healthy meal if baked Italian dressing chicken and steamed broccoli, carrots and zucchini last night for her sister and dad. I couldn't have any but know what they need to do.

Eat whatever veggies you want. Just take small bites and chew well!

You might want to introduce new veggies a little spread out just in case your sleeve disagrees with a particular kind. Then you know what to wait longer before trying again. :)

Totally agree with you ladies! I have three kids and I flat our refuse to let them fall into the same patterns I did and end up like me. My kids are healthy, active and spot on for their appropriate weights for their heights. Since I had surgery, I don't want them poisoning their bodies with that fast food crap. I feel so much better just having cut that out. It took a month or so, but they have stopped even asking for it! I work full time, go to school full time and I cook three meals a day! Where there s a will, there is a way!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
