Anyone know a surgeon in NJ who accepts selfpay?

Recommended Posts

I had bariatric coverage when I got the band years ago. Well I had to fight and fight but in the end they did cover it. Anyway, I have since changed jobs and health care plans and have no bariatric coverage. It is hard to get the surgeon to agree to see me to discuss revision options. So if anyone can recommend someone, I'd be grateful. Thank you.

To phantom - the band is no picnic. For me, it doesn't do what I expected. For example, they claim it makes you feel full. It doesn't. It just stops food from going in. So I will eat two bites, have to stop, but still hear my stomach growling. But junk food slides through with no problem. So I was a slow loser, didn't lose half the weight I wanted to, and have recently started gaining. So I am thinking about other options.

I had my surgery done by Dr. Naveen Ballam. Mine was done at Hunterdon Medical Center, in Flemington NJ. I believe Dr. Ballem can do surgery at Morristown also. He is affiliated with several hospitals. Check him out. I went through the Center for Advanced Weight Loss in Clinton, NJ. His office handled everything and was wonderful.

Dr Brolin and Dr Chou in Plainsboro NJ did my surgery... They were awesome! Their office staff is beyond awesome!! Never in my life have I dealt with nicer people at a Drs office! They all go above and beyond. The Drs do surgery out of the new Princeton Plainsboro hospital, which may I add feels more like a hotel stay then a hospital stay!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
