any suggestions on alternatives to coffee?

Recommended Posts

I have decided coffee isn't really agreeing with me and was wondering what others have tried for a little energy boost in the morning. What is your alternatives to coffee?

You could try black tea if you're still looking for caffeine. I find it tasty.

Black tea? Does it have a lot of caffeine? I would drink coffee in the AM for the caffeine not the tast so yes I want the caffeine. I tried crystal lite energy and they really don't do much for me.

Avitae caffeine Water comes in 2 strengths one has as much as a soda the other as much as coffee. Very nice clean tasting water and doesn't give me heartburn the way coffee does

The B12 provides a lot of energy. If you want straight caffeine I would suggest maybe going a more natural herbal route like matcha. Someone mentioned black tea, but you will find there are hundreds are varieties of tea out there. Irish Breakfast (like English breakfast) is very high on the caffeine scale and like espresso. Look for the brands by Taylors of Harrogate or Twinnings if you can't find the former.

I almost forgot to advise you to NOT get tea bags. Many tea bags contain fannings.... essentially tea dust. This dust does not contain a lot of flavor or the caffeine. Buy loose leaf tea and steep it in a tea ball for the best taste and quality.

Plain coffee does not agree with me either. However, a non-fat latte goes down really well - AND it contains fat-free Protein - a double bonus! Also, I ordered the cappucino mix from American Bariatrics. I mix it with my morning coffee and it mellows out the acidity so the coffee goes down better. It also provides 15 grams of protein and 90 calories - I start every morning with one and get in my caffeine! The other thing I do in the afternoon is to mix a protein lemonade mix (also from American Bariatrics) with a glass of iced tea for a mock "Arnold Palmer" - it is delicious, and again has caffeine, 15 grams of protein, and 90 calories!

If you are looking for a natural boost, when I was juicing, I learned that adding the juice from 1/2 bunch of parsley to a morning drink will have you bouncing off the walls.

I'm not sure the nutritional value but I love the cool lime refresher at starbucks..its iced and made with coffee leaves instead of Beans. There is a berry hibiscus one but it tastes too flowery for my tastes

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
