Today is why I got the sleeve

It happens every time. During every diet there comes a time when I say "to hell with it, I want this!", and then I eat something I shouldn't. I do feel guilty briefly, but the only punishment is a rise in the number on the scale, which is easily ignored by not even stepping on the scale.< /p>

Today I slipped into that same bad habit, and overate (waaay overate, so apparently it was a slider food!) something I shouldn't have. But this time, 5 weeks post-sleeve, I paid for it! Luckily no vomiting or sliming, but I spent a lot of time running to the bathroom, and boy were my innards making some noise! Not real comfortable, either. This lasted several hours, including after I had to leave the house. Really not fun in public!

See, that's why I got the sleeve. i needed some sort of impartial check mechanism, because I can't trust myself not to overindulge ("but I want it! It tastes sooo good!"), and the penalty for that overindulgence was never severe enough. I think after today's discomfort, the memory of the aftereffects with this new stomach will make me think twice, three times, and four times about whether bad choices are really worth it!

I strongly recommend coming to grips with your overeating issues now. In a few months, what seems impossible will slide down without an issue. You can't count on restriction in the long term. Yes, you will always have a restricted capacity, but you'll easily be able to eat enough to gain it all back if you nibble or choose a lot of calorie dense foods. Right now, I am totally ignoring the caramel corn sitting in the kitchen calling my name.

Have agree with Lynda, in the respect that while right now - - being early out from surgery - - your body is still trying to heal and what you gave it was too much and it objected. However, going forward as your new tummy heals and relaxes, it will be totally UP TO YOU to resist the temptation of food. What the sleeve DOES help with long-term is being full on less, but I've found that only with dense Protein. I am 2.5 years post-op and max out at 4oz of Protein. I usually do 3 to 3.5 oz per meal of protein. Things like crackers, chips, ice cream, pie, cake, Cookies, and YES even caramel corn will slide right down your sleeve without resistance. So start tackling those food demons now, and start working on developing long-term habits that you can live with for the rest of your life.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
