I had my sleeve on April 23, 2013. Original weight 274 Height 5' 10". Weigh at surgery 268. Weight now 248. My goal is 200. I am wondering if anyone has meal suggestions for someone 3 1/2 weeks post-op. I tolerate cheese but scared of meat and can only eat non-starchy foods. ANY suggestion are welcomed since I can only eat about 2 to 3 bites.

the things i was eating the most at 3+ weeks out was tuna salad, and canned chicken salad. They are very soft and moist and are generally well tolerated. baked fish is also a good one, or shrimp. black bean Soup was another staple for me, i'd add in a little unflavored Protein Powder as well just to help supplement. You do need to add the meats back in to help get your Protein ( unless you're vegetarian). Just start small, take one small bite of tuna, and wait 4 or 5 min. then try another. and chew it up really really well, this helps tons! Good luck to you!!

May I asked why you are scared of meat? Are you vegan? I had my surgery the day after you and I have chicken, fish, shrimp, crabmeat and occasionally potted meat (my husband thinks it looks like canned dog food) . I even throw progreso Soup in my blender to get my veggies and Beans in during the day. I can only eat 2-3 bites as well. I am still struggling to get my calories past 500 a day. Doing much better with my Protein now that I have found a Protein Powder I can drink.

I am not a vegan or vegetarian I am afraid of meat because I have a hard time processing it. My stomach is very tight in the middle and sometimes meat makes me have nausea. The taste of meat is not appealing to me. I would to be able to eat it but the texture in my tummy and the way I feel when trying to process/digest it is not pleasant.

Thank you for your support. I went to my 3 week post-op appointment every thing went fine. I am doing better I was having to go in for fluids because of stomach tightness, but I have mastered drinking and doing better. My weight was 244...30 pounds down from my start weight. I am going to start trying different flavored Soups. So far I like onions Soup. But bean is sounding good. Again thank you for your support : )

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
