I am just a little over 7 weeks post-op. I went to the surgeon's office yesterday - been having terrible pain the last several days when eating and/or drinking anything, including plain Water. In between, it basically felt like someone had punched me in the guy, or that sore stomach feeling you get after throwing up a lot. The PA put me on a new PPI (dexilant) and also something called sucralfate which is supposed to coat the painful areas and allow them to heal. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, how long did it take for you to feel better?

I had a similar problem and was on that same medication you are now taking , I was diagnosed with an esophagus ulcer from excessive vomiting from the lapband. Every medication they have placed me on has not cured my ulcer , however Prilosec 2x a day gives me some relief . Dexilant was ok however it did not cure my ulcer. After 4 years of vomiting and pain my lapband was finally removed on June 23, 2012. Here I am almost 1 year after my lapband removal and I am still feeling the abdomal pain from the esophagus ulcer. Some days are worst than others . Depending on what I eat or drink. Hopefully you will have good results. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
