I am one week post op today. I have had no issues with nausea pain or acid.

I can get 60 grams of Protein daily with two premiers that I split in half. liquids are not an issue.

I also have no problem with sipping. I am able to take a normal size.

Somehow this doesn't seem right to me. I thought it would be much harder.

Now the psychological part is harder than I anticipated.

Enjoy the fact that you do not have a lot of complications (or maybe any for that matter). The only thing I would caution you on is to not allow yourself to become too comfortable where you're like "I can have anything I want. Yay!! let's go for it!" lol...really, though. I'm like you & I not too long ago had to tell myself to stay focused. Don't feel guilty b/c it may come somewhat easy to you in some ways. You're fortunate!! & also, don't be too hard on yourself. Take one day at a time & enjoy the journey. Hope this makes sense & helps some.

There are quite a few of us that experience NO restriction with liquids. It really does make recovery nice. I assure you, once you start eating dense Proteins YOU WILL NOTICE.

you will notice a major difference once you begin eating Protein vs. drinking protein. your tummy will say, "whoa...wait a minute...not so fast...not too much at one time...hey, did you really chew that enough....."

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
