I wish rollergirl where here because she lives in New Zealand also and she spoke in detail on her thread about just how discriminatory New Zealanders are against fat people! :P

So discriminatory in fact that at a 30 bmi she was judged and ridiculed on a daily basis -__-

Oh and I think what Angelina did was good for her, I also carry that gene in my family (my nana was tested before she died:( )

But a very important fact!!!

The company that markets the 3000 dollar test patented the GENE!! So no one else can do anything with it, like research/ testing!

It's in front of the Supreme Court now to see if its even constitutional (NO) to patent a gene!

Bubblehood, I love it lol

There is discrimination everywhere and any one who thinks it doesn't exist is the biggest bigot!

What's the saying? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...

My family doctor is completely on board. She said the risk from surgery was far less than the weight related diseases I was sure to have if I don't lose weight now.

**STANDING UP & LOUDLY APPLAUDING!**

With all that you just said' date=' I also carry the same mutation gene in my family so I just had a long heart to heart with my GYN who is all for me having the sleeve but tells me to hold off on the double mastectomy because while I do have a 1st cousin that has stage 4 breast cancer, no one else in my immediate family has been dx'd with cancer. Also, reducing my weight will greatly reduce my chances of cancer as well. So I'm taking my chances on the sleeve to help me become healthier. While I'm not ashames of having that done, I'm also not sharing with anyone. Don't need negativity.

Hope your Mom & G-ma pull thru this LI Gemini NY! Big (((HUGS))) to you too! [/quote']

I am not sharing with ANYONE either. (Except my husband). Simply do not want to debate. I have made up my mind. That's it.

So we all heard' date=' she removed her boobies (and planning on removing her ovaries) because she's high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. I think it's absolutely brilliant, my grandma and my mom both suffer from breast cancer, my grandma is doing well, my mom on the other hand not so much. The cancer has spread to her bones, she's constantly in pain, her bones always break doing simple things like tying her shoelaces. It's crazy, she's had radiation daily, chemo 2 or 3x per week and all sorts of other doctors appointments. Also she has lost her vision as a side effect of one of her meds. So yes, I applaud Angelina Jolie for avoiding a life like my mom's. Who in the right mind would want to go through this if it could be prevented?!?

So here I am, I want to have 80% of my stomach removed because I am at a high risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity related cancers and about a cazillion other things.

What makes Angelina Jolie better than me? We both wants to lower our risks for diseases.....why is society praising her and criticizing us? Yes, I can lose weight and yes she can overcome cancer, what the hell is the difference?

Oye!!

Amen! I never thought about that when I heard the news about her but your so right!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
