Did I really do the right thing?

Recommended Posts

I am 2 weeks out and only had that thought for a day or so, but in a few more months when the wt is off I know I will be very happy with the choice I made.

I'm a week out today and I keep asking myself "did I do the right thing?" I just feel awful. :(

So many times I thought this but I refused to speak it out loud..when you read everyone saying it will get better it does...it's not going to be like one day you wake up and you're better...it's a process...I'm 4 weeks post..

Jabb, i am 10 days post op and i am JUST now feeling good.. All last week i had a serious case of buyers remorse because i was feeling so crappy. Once i started feeling better and the pain started to go away i slowly realized that i did do the right thing.

I'm still not 100% but i'm slowly appreciating the little things ( like drinking water) and looking forward to the rest of my journey.

TRUST ME things will start to change very soon. Keep your head up!

I was about that far out when I went through the "OMG, WHAT did I just DO????" phase. It didn't last long but it sure took me by surprise... I mean after months and months of preparation and planning, I didn't expect to feel that way post op. All I kept thinking was, "OMG, what have I done? This can't be undone now.. and the vast majority of my perfectly healthy stomach is now rotting away in some Mexican biodump"

I'm now exactly two months post op and extremely happy with my surgery. Portion sizes are finally starting to feel normal and I'm used to the vsg eating habits now (like not eating/drinking at the same time, chewing food well, etc)

I had mine on the 5th so just about the same as you, I honestly only felt better once the dressing & bandages were off not that the incisions are good looking, but I'm losing weight on a daily basis so that has me excited. Eating or drinking are usually unenjoyable but I'm getting on with other things as normal, I think you will be where I am in a few days & once you see the weight coming off. I read something before I went in for surgery, saying the only regret in regards to the surgery is that you didn't do it earlier!

I am almost 4 months out now. I woke up out of surgery and the first thing I said to my mom and brother was... Why did I do this. I felt like crap. first week was ok then I start regreting it was see food ads on t.v. and friends werent helping by sending me pictures of food. They were be funny but it sucked for me. That first month month was bad for me.

After that I figured out was to eat what I like but in a healthy way and it was wonderful that I wasnt hungry and didnt need to eat a whole pizza and a sub to feel that way.

It will get better butyou will have bad moments. You have to adjust to a new life style and a new way of eating. Its a tool and will only work if you work with it. You work harder the better the out come.

In 4 months I have lost 103lbs down 50% of my extra weight. I am at the gym 4 days a week and out running on trails on the other days. I make sure I get in my Protein and Water. Because I want to be healthy and not the fat guy in the group any more.

Stay strong it will get better trust me.

Yes...my portions feel more "normal" now too! I really like that. Now, I do have my days where I just don't wanna eat much, but for the most part, it's going pretty well. To, the creator of this post, hang in there!! You will have great days!!

I am in the exact position. I didn't see this coming and the adjustment has been hellish. I am only four days out but so frustrated with feeling hungry and full all at the same time.

I know everyone says it will get better a I do believe this but getting through the is harder than I anticipated.

Four weeks out here and feeling the same way. Some days are better than others. I think my recovery is taking longer than some because they fixed a hiatal hernia while they were doing my sleeve. I'm trying to be positive and looking forward to the day I can look back and tell others how worth it the surgery is. As it is, I am having trouble getting all of my Protein and Water in still. Doing my best. I dont have a lot of energy back yet and feel kind of blah half the time. Hang in there.

Today I am one-week post op and feel the same way. I want this pain to go away. I want to be able to do simple stuff like bend over and pick something up off the floor. There are lots of other things going on in my life too and I feel myself falling into a state of depression. :( Everything makes me cry and it sucks!

I had to reply to this because I felt the same way. I had my sleeve done on 5/15. The first night was horrific pain, intractable nausea, dry heaving and painful hiccups. Night 2 was loss of ability to pee followed by straight catching for urine and then loss of my bowels w horrible, liquid battery acid diarrhea. I ended up staying for 5 days total. They thought I had c diff. Gave me antibiotics that made me even more nauseated. It was horrid. I am on day 6 now and I finally feel a bit better. My issues have resolved. Please don't regret it. I spent days crying in the hospital. We will get through this. Each at our own pace.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
