I am scheduled to have a band to sleeve revision on Monday June 10th. Last week, I met with my surgeon. While going over the surgery he told me that I did not need to do a pre-op diet. He went on to say, "Now don't go out and eat three Big Mac's the night before or hold a food funeral but, you also don't need to go on a liquid diet either."

So, I was wondering what other revision patients were told by their doctors. Did you have a pre-op diet? If so, what did it consist of?

It just seems like I should be doing one.

I am post op May 6th and did not have a liquid diet. Since I had the band I did not eat much before anyway but I did indulge in a few favorites the week or two before I must admit. You should eat light the day before so you don't have a whole lot in your belly but you will be fine. I didnt have one for my band either. Best of luck you will do great!

I did a modified phase 2 south beach diet because I am diabetic. If I wasn't I would have to do phase 1. I was a revision 4/30/13. I did liquids 1 week and now on puréed foods. Everyone's nut is different. I would say watch what you eat so it doesn't bite you in the butt.

I had my band out in September, my surgeon will not do a removal and sleeve in one, and will be sleeved on Tuesday (5/21). He is having me do a pre-op for 11 days, to shrink the liver a little more.

I had my conversion done April 26th. Pre-op I only had to do a liquid diet the day before, only to make sure my stomach was empty for surgery. I didn't have to do a pre-op diet for my band either except for the Clear Liquids the day before.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
