So I'm 3 months out and lost 47 pounds. Somehow I'm only down 1 size (started at size 20, now at size 18). How does 47 pounds equal 1 size? I should have measured myself prior to surgery but didn't. Don't get me wrong, I am so thankful to have lost that weight, I just don't know where it went from, lol!

That's an 18, not sure why it changed to an emoticon.

I don't know how sizes work.... I have lost a little over 100 # and 6 sizes. ... It is a mistery to me also!

Body sizes are different and she snf whether or not you have had kids plays a major role in going down sizes. My tummy just sticks out more than I'd like, otherwise I could wear the smaller size i almost am in to

Did you go from a woman's 20 to a misses 18? Can't remember if its the 18 or the 16 but there is actually 2 sizes there. For some reason it dosent translate to a single size.

It really depends on the maker of the clothes. Some designers cut there close small and some cut them big. I'm definitely with you on this that a lose of 47lbs should net you more than one size down. Are these new clothes your wearing or is it something you already had?

There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to most sizing. I like buying American clothes now because they size smaller! Here a 14, which I generally fit now, is an American 10. I would rather pull a 10 off the rack than a 14! But this isn't consistent. I have found it in Not Your Daughters Jeans and in LuluLemon yoga gear but not in everything.

Ultimately, I think you just have to try different brands to find the size that fits you, and don't worry too much about what number is on the label.

I definitely think a lot of it is branding. I know, for me anyway, that a lot of the clothes I wore on a regular basis prior to surgery were tight. I probably could have gone up a size. So I don't know if that counts as one size or two sizes for me either!! :)

Either way, you are getting smaller and your body is changing!!

This is my biggest frustration so far. I've lost just about 100 lbs now and I haven't even dropped a full size yet. I've lost bout 7 inches off my waist and bust, but not much off anything else. Guess that is what happens when you start at over 400lbs... I know that the inches will start to melt away soon enough, but it is very frustratng to say I've lost 100lbs but not really see what you think a 100lb loss should reflect.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
