Submitted... Now the waiting game begins!

Recommended Posts

I just heard from the insurance coordinator that she just submitted everything to the insurance company. Now the waiting game begins. She said it can take from a few days to a few weeks. And they schedule 4 weeks out. So... If I am lucky enough to be approved the first time around I am looking at surgery some time in June. Hopefully anyway!

Good luck! Depending on who your insurance is, it could take just a few days. I have United through UMR and we had a decision in less than a week.

I hope your approval comes a lot faster than mine! Mine was submitted on March 20 to the insurance company, the surgeon submitted an inquiry this week but nothing yet....I have BC MN but live in FL, so it has to go through FL first then MN...basically has to be approved TWICE before we get the approval letter. SO FRUSTRATING!!!

That stinks! I know in the beginning of this process I heard up to 90 days but most folks seem to find out in days to weeks... Can you call them as well to request a status update? Hope you hear really soon :) hang in there in the mean time...

Mine was approved exactly one week from the day it was submitted. I know that is a nerve wracking process so good luck!

My initial (denial) request happened same day as submission. It's been over a week since my appeal submission.

Good luck to you!! Never thought BC would take so long....just my specific plan, being an out of state plan involving FL.....maybe we will have surgery at the same time at the rate mine is taking. :)

Thanks! Even though it was just submitted Friday I've already been watching my phone like a crazy person, lol!

Hopefully the longer response time is a good thing and that means you'll get an approval the second time around - good luck!

I am in the same boat. Submitted last Wednesday. I called insurance to make sure they have it and they said yes and I would know within 5 days!

I know that feeling VERY well!! It's still hard to believe I'm on the other side now of all that. Surgery is 6/25!

I found out last Monday that my insurance Co never received the initial submission from match 20. They did receive an inquiry and 2nd request on may 3, which then gives them 10 days to process it, so they should have made a decision by this past Friday...I am going to call the insurance Co tomorrow for the result since the surgeon did not call me Friday. You might want to call your insurance Co directly to be SURE they received it so you don't wait 2 months like I did Just to find out they never got it....wish me luck, say a prayer for me that I get an approval tomorrow!!

Good that you confirmed that they received it! Wish I had done that, then might have had my surgery by now. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
