Lower BMI Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Oct 12th with a BMI of approx 34. Anyone have diarrhea? I know we're drinking all liquid during the first week, so excuse me if this is a silly question.

It seems to go both ways. And no, that's not a silly question. I got really constipated after surgery. Some people get constipated and some get the

diarrhea.

hey all,

I'd like to join you. My highest was 236, I'm now at around 200 but I've only lost 20 since being banded mid-July. Feel like I had weight loss surgery without the weight loss part!

Going for another fill on Mon. I know they're gonna think I'm crazy cause I had to be unfilled about a month ago. Being overfilled was really uncomfortable but I need to get SOME restriction here or things are gonna get ugly...

Where did you all start feeling full? I have a 4cc band and am at around 1.6cc now.

I am at 2.2 cc and am well restricted. My 1st fill was 2cc and the second was .2. 4 weeks later I was to get another fill but cancelled the appointment as I'm doing so well. I won't get another fill unless I start gaining or just simply stop losing for a while.

Good luck and keep us posted.

My doctor said that it takes time to get used to each fill. He said, for example, that eventually we might be able to handle 7 cc's but not if we add it all at once. So your unfill followed by a fill may just be a sign that it was too much, too soon. I hope the next one works out for you!

I just hit my first real milestone!

Ten weeks since starting my journey/seven weeks post-op, and I'm 1/3 of my way to goal: 25lbs gone!

I'm hoping to "just" be overweight for Christmas...

Hi! Any low BMI folks out there get insurance approval? I am in Austin Texas with BCBS ins. Anyone from Austin with advice? I know this sounds crazy, but anyone wear weights or gain weight to reach BMI approval level?

Just starting my journey and have about a zillion thoughts and questions.

THANKS

Actually I lied about my height. I have 5'4 and told them I was 5'2 they didnt ask to measure me. I also wore very heavy clothes for my initial weigh....

I will be banded on Ocotber 25 in Toronto. It is nice to have others with a lower BMI. How much weight can I expect to loose in the first 6 weeks? Will I still do the 1-2 lbs a week?

Is anyone located in Alberta. I am so excited to be in get rid of the excess weight phase. Everything I have tried I have failed at.

Congrats to all of you that are on your way to a healthier smaller you.

18 again:clap2:

Hahaha, I did too. Once my doc, family doc, took my vitals and height/weight and I had shrunk 2 inches. So, with that in mind, I figured I wouldn't stand all the way straight... my bmi was low, really low.

But I had comorbids and a history of obesity... so I worried for nothing.

For those lower BMI's under 40, it's fairly difficult to get approved. I believe once you're over 40 BMI, it's almost guaranteed because that's not the lower category. If I'm correct, greater than 40 is actually the cutoff for morbidly obese.

For those of us under 40 BMI, the process is a little different. If heavy clothes or putting a lower height will help you, good luck! I also considered it, but I ended up going to Mexico.

You are getting your band on my birthday!

I lost 22 lbs during the first four weeks that I was on the Liquid Protein diet.

I don't know about anyone else, but that was when I lost the most weight.Once I moved back to food, it's been a struggle.

I paid out of pocket though, so I think that is a big motivator to stick with it and eat what I am supposed to.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well. I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening. So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this?? Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
