If you are going to swim, bike and run you may as well do a triathlon Audree. There are a ton of them in California and that may keep you motivated to keep going....

I used to be at they gym for 2-2 1/2 hours a day with a personal trainer and slowed it down to 1 1/2 hours when I'd go with my step daughter. I am just used to staying a long time at the gym or I feel like it was a waste of my time. I walked at a brisk pace, not too fast and the bicycle at a nice pace.

What I do is just do what I feel I can and then build a little more every week. I will eventually add fast walking at an upward incline, the elyptical very fast, the stair climber, weights, swimming and some aerobic classes. I was such a gym junkie but once I stop going it is hard for me to get back into the groove.

I need an Ipod!!!

But, just do what you feel comfortable with and just add a little at a time. As long as it's fun, I find I stick to it!!! Maybe swimming??

Yes, everyone said it would be sooooo easy, but I sure didn't think so. My sister was surprised I had trouble with the eye stuff. I am not, since I am a HUGE baby when I go to the dentist. Anything around my face freaks me right out.

Oohh, not for me. My eye surgery was a breeze compared to my first 3 days of lap band surgery. I was totally knocked out for 24 hours, and the next day I went in to get my patch removed and could see perfectly.

Hope you are still doing better. I'm sorry you had such a rough time. I guess different types of surgeries affect different people in entirely different ways.

Thanks for the advice about the tax savings by having all this done in the same year. I'll have to think about what "health related" things I have been putting off.

Audree, wow, you had a real hard work out for your first time back. I'm impressed! I wish I could find an exercise that I thought was fun, but I never have gotten that adrenaline rush from exerting myself. I forced myself to walk 30 minutes a day this past week. I do have an Ipod, and that probably the only thing that keeps me distracted enough to keep going. I just keep looking at my watch.

Terry

I think the thing I like the best are the classes. I like to go with a workout partner too! I get bored on the treadmill and bike but at least they have tv's! I love to swim too! I just use it as "me" time. Sometimes I take a book too and read it while I am on the bike. I use it to think about my life, my goals, my plans, etc.

I always did want to train for a marathon or something. Maybe once I get some stamina and build up my muscle.

Audree: They have the ipod shuffle. It is really small and it is reasonable. I saw it during Xmas, but my daughter changed her mind about getting it. I actually use my PDA to listen to music. I put a lot of fast songs w/ upbeats so that I would get in to the groove. Just as if I was dancing to the music. I walked 1 day 2miles. It felt really good. The reason it was 2 miles because I started out good walking at a nice pace, music good. When I got to the 1 mile mark I was so tired. The only thing is I had to keep going - I had to walk back home...TO MY CAR. You know once you get out there you have to come back. Boy was I tired!! I haven't walked since. I'm hoping the weight will relieve my knee pains.

Keep up the good work. I'm going to look into the gym thing. I like to swim and I loved sitting in the sauna.

Audree,

I like classes too, although, right now the only one I'm taking is Yoga on Monday afternoons. The thing about classes, for me, is I don't want to let anyone down by missing.

Today our yoga instructor kicked our bums! We did Camels and tried to push up into a bridge. Ha, I haven't done that since I was in like 7th grade. I got my bridge up to where I was on my feet, arms, and head, then I couldn't push up anymore. Next, we did it using a partner. I held her ankles and she kind of pulled me up, then let go, and I was able to hold it then!

Now my port area is a little sore, but I'm proud of myself.

Today, I switched up my swimming practice. I added a few laps of breaststroke and some skill training for my arms. Tough stuff fo 530 in the morning. But, I was proud of what I could do.

I'm running out of clothes to wear :D:) so this weekend I went to Burlington Coat Factory and found 2 nice pair of size 10! pants for work. But, since I didn't want to wear all my new stuff and be left with nothing else, I dug through the "closet" the one with "those clothes" anyway, I found a dress that I wore maybe once 8 years ago, when I lost weight for a second. I'm gonna (hopefully) wear it tomorrow. Assuming I can actually do all the nylons getting on, slip putting on, actually wearing of the dress. It is really cute, just above my knees. I put it on over my other clothes, and it wasn't too tight, so it should be good for tomorrow. I think I was like 165 or so when I wore it before, it was a bit snug then, which is why I only wore it once.

Wish me bravery, I might get it on and change my mind. I'm bringing a different set of clothes with me to the gym in the morning, just in case lol.

I hear you. I like to have something to look forward to so I am doing all the exercise for a reason. I like to exercise but if I am just going to go, then it doesn't seem important.

I always did want to train for a marathon or something. Maybe once I get some stamina and build up my muscle.

There was a class I only heard about (but no way would I dare to go to it) at my gym at 6 am called boot camp. If you were late, or missed, then the class got punished because of you. If I would have been in that class, the other people would have set my car on fire or something.

I hope you rock that dress tomorrow Deckedout!

I did the spin class last night at the gym. Wow!!! That class kicked my butt. I made it all the way through, but it was tough. I will do it again tomorrow night. My butt needs a break tonight. lol. I will go to the gym, but not do the spin class. I will probably walk on the treadmill or the elliptical or something.

Yeah, I need to look into a ipod shuffle.I do have my cd player, so I should just use that for now.

I remember walking once like that. I was so tired and I almost cried when I knew I had to walk back. There is an uphill trail by my kids school I used to do, 3 miles up and 3 miles down. And I still didn't lose weight cuz I ate to much!!!!

I love the pool, jacuzzi, sauna...... too bad it's so cold out here in sunny California! It's supposed to rain.

You are doing so awesome!!! You are almost close to your goal too!!! I bet the dress will fit better than it did before!! I do the same thing where I get used to wearing certain clothes and to put on something different takes extra effort.

I did a class a few months ago, cardio kickboxing, but I felt so out of breah and looked so rediculous in the mirrors. I couldn't even raisem y arms or legs up like the others. I looked commical and like I was going to pass out. Also my butt was jiggling so bad it hurt!!!:faint:

I can't wait till I can do those classes again and feel comfortable. I used to to them a couple of years ago and did kickboxing, boxing it was so fun! I can't wait to be able to do that again!!! I am so physcially out of shape. I was so strong and in shape even if I was fat. Now I have to start all over again!!!:D

Hey guys!!!

I am eating my Breakfast right now.

Breakfast:2 eggs, 4 mushroos and one slice of cheddar cheese.

Lunch: mozerella stuffed chicken meatballs dipped in spaghetti sauce and hummus

It is going good.

I also got in my 24 ounces in the morning while taking my kids to school. I bough these little packets called Just Lemon and they are pure lemon crystals to add to Water or food. I put two of those and one Splenda.

I am going to meet my step daughter at the gym again at 12:30.

If I didn't have someone to meet me,especially in these first days of getting restarted, I'd make some excuse and not go.

My goals today:::

1. To eat 1200 calories

2. To go to the gym and have a good workout

3. To drink at least 64 ounces of liquids.< /p>

Do you guys have any goals??

How are you today???

Hi Audree,

<y goal today is to eat around 1500 - 1800 calories today.

My other goal is to walk on my treadmill while watching tv - no sweating for me because of the eye surgery.

My third goal is to drink 64 oz of Water too. I have been bad the last couple of days.

My mantra for 2007 is consistency, consistency, consistency.

I want to consistently eat better, exercise and drink water.

Me too!! The band will help me stay consistent! I just have to get past these first days or weeks of feeling lazy to go to the gym. But, once it kicks in, I become obsessed about going. I'd go in the day and then if my husband would go again, I'd go at night too!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

    • LeighaTR

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
