Hello,

I'm new here and and a million questions. First off.....How long did the process take for everyone. I am going to a seminar which is the first step before my consult. the office tells me it's a 2 to 2 1/2 month wait time from seminar to surg. She says due to the testing and prep.

Are you cash pay or insurance? Cash pay moves faster because of extra requirements/approval time for insurance. At my office, cash pay is about 6-8 weeks. I was insurance, so it was 4 months for me from first appt to surgery (included 3 month pre op diet required by insurance).

My insurance did not require a waiting period.

So my first consult was mid September and after getting all the pre op tests scheduled and done

Surgery was done in mid November.

So 3 months?

I did not have to do the supervised diet stuff due to having a higher BMI so my seminar was in early October, first preop apt October 18th, and surgery December 10th.

It mostly depends on your insurance and their requirements. Mine took 6 months, but well worth the wait!

From seminar (3/8/13) to surgery (5/28/13). Not even 3 months. :D My insurance was a breeze and I was able to schedule all my appointments back to back. Make sure you call your insurance company upfront and ask what the requirements are to be approved. That way, you can get them out of the way while you are doing your testing. Good Luck!

Update....I went to the seminar and spoke with the surgeon after..... and I've had a lot of the pre op testing in the last year due to other issues. He said they can still be used since they were done with in the last twelve months...so yay! I work for the hospital that I'm having it done at so I know my insurance should be easy to deal with. My first appt is June 11th. Hope it won't take too much time. I'm very excited and ready to get the surgery.

Thanks for that lovely information about some tests that were taken in the last twelve months can be used. What insurance company/hospital do you have? I will see if that can happen when I get to that point. I start my classes on June 12th. So it should be around my third class that my lab work should be done which is June 26th or so.

I have Humana...and as far as the surgeon I'm using says that I can use my sleep ap test and endo testing, as well as the others. I've had a lot of health issues related to my gall bladder that sent me in all different directions of testing in the last few months. I guess it depends on the doc and the ins.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
