Hi, yes, I have a thyroid issue and I had the sleeve on April 2nd and I'm doing well with it..I've had hypothyroidism for over 20 years now and then a few years ago was told that I have Hoshimoto's disease...I haven't had my levels checked yet since surgery but so far I'm doing great..

I've been hypothyroid (secondary to a pituitary adenoma) for more than 20 years, and VSG is the first thing that has worked for me in years. I may lose more slowly than others, but I'm definitely losing. I finally feel like my goals are within reach.

This is the thread that I have been looking for. I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease about 1 year ago. My doc has me on this gluten free regiment, I have been feeling much better without the gluten, but I have had some concerns about having WLS with a thyroid issue. Thanks for sharing.

I have hypothyroidism and despite lots of thyroid meds, I've had a really hard time losing weight for years. Surgery was 3/25, and 25 lb loss so far (includes pre-op loss of 10 lbs). Several nurses have told me that I will lose slower than people with normal thyroids, even if my thyroid levels read normal from medication. While this makes no sense to me (my TSH numbers are well below the normal range, which you would see in hyperthyroidsm...shouldn't weight just melt off??), it seems to be true because I feel like I'm still scratching and clawing for every pound. This is more and faster progress than I've had before, though, and I'm hopeful I'll be able to get to a normal weight one of these days. My endocrinologist said he would readjust meds as needed, but I hope we don't have that conversation for a long time. In my mind, any reduction of thyroid medication would just mean even slower weight loss.

As far as the surgery, I was able to resume the thyroid medication within a day. Besides slower weight loss (for me, may not be everyone), I don't think there has been any difference in the process. I already had my thyroid issue diagnosed and treated before surgery, though...not sure if it would make a difference pre-op if they were just now addressing it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
