My surgery date was 4/3/2013, and I want to start working out but I am so weak and not sure where to begin? Any suggestions would be helpful. I thought about joining Curves but not really sure I want to join a gym, I have workout videos at home but just can't get myself to use them because I am so tired. So now what?

I was having the same problems with fatigue after coming home from hospital. Are you getting plenty of fluids and all your Protein in? Also, starting a Multivitamin can help with the fatigue, as well. I threw the idea around of joining a gym, but walking gently around the block will give us great results, too. Let us know how you are going with your fatigue - I hope that it gets straightened out soon for you.

Building up to being active after surgery is a really slow and frustrating process. I just did the walking for about the first 3 weeks or so. Doing anything more than that is really taxing on your body if you are not getting the minimum nutrition (protein) in, which most of us still are not at a month or less post-op. Hang in there, get in your Protein (and water) and slowly build up your activity level and at 2-4 months out you should be fine and able to try whatever you'd like.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
