Kelly, the OP on this thread had her surgery today. She is no longer pre op. I hope she will check in here when she can and that we all will try to give her the emotional support that she will need in these first post op weeks.

Hi everyone!

Well, surgery was yesterday at 11:00 am and I was home by 3:00 the next day (today). Waking up from surgery was the hardest part - I was very nauseous when I woke up but that seemed to go away soon enough. There was a little bit of pain but mostly I am just uncomfortable. I just went for a walk (a little under a mile) and feel good ... just a bit crampy.

I'm extremely tired and still feel somewhat out of it but otherwise I'm doing pretty good. Oh ... I've been able to sip on a little Water and a little broth but not much at all. Sorry I'm not writing much now - I will write more tomorrow.

Hope you all are doing well!

Kelly

Glad you're feeling so well! The loopiness will wear off and eventually when your diet changes you'll get your energy back. Keep walking to help the gas, and gas x strips. Sip sip sip! You HAVE to stay hydrated :) Just don't push yourself. Now is your time to take it easy and relax and rest. Between walks of course :) happy birthday to your new tummy!

Ugh! While yesterday was great - today was very difficult. Lot's of dry heaves, extremely tired, and sharp pains behind my breast bone. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

:( sorry I remember those first days! They are hard and I spent more than a few minutes wondering what the heck did I do to myself this time.

...Oh' date=' and on a lighter note, I have almost never failed at dieting. I'm a pro at that. It is the maintaining has me stymied ;-)

Good luck!

Just reread this. SAME!!! I have no problem dieting! It's maintenance. That's why I approach the sleeve as a tool as opposed to a diet. You can't quit the sleeve :P

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
