Feeling better. Taking chances.

Recommended Posts

I am about 4 months out and have lost52 lbs. more than half way to goal. I just worked up the courage to apply for two really great jobs. One as a nursing school instructor and one as a charge nurse in labor and delivery.

I'm not sure I will qualify because it has been 10 years since I last worked. I felt to bad about myself to even think about re-entering the work force

But today I got two calls. One was an invitation to send in my résumé. The second call is for an interview for Friday!!

Never would I have had the guts to even apply before the surgery. I am hopeful for the first time in a long time.

Hit 'like' to give me a boost and some encouragement :)

Are you feeling better about yourself? What kind of chances have you been taking with the new you? Please share!

That is so fabulous for you- amazing! I am about to graduate with an AAS in Respiratory Care and embarking on a second career at 40! I am about to start applying for jobs, and I am not so nervous about my appearance during interviews as I once was. Congrats to you- wish you the best of luck!

Tink!!!!!! I can't like this because I love it! I am so happy for you with your weight loss and your new confidence that is allowing you to take such a big step. I cannot wait to hear an update on this. ;-) I have noticed that I have more confidence as well, I am making changes in my appearance and am also more outgoing!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
