I was originally going with Dr. Almanza in Tijuana but there are just too many controversial issues being talked about and I cant stand the idea of having surgery in a clinic in a strip mall. I changed to Dr. Garcia because I have not ready one bad thing about him! Also, he performs surgery in a hospital instead of the clinic. I cant wait for July 3rd!!!

You have to do what you are most comfortable with! I changed my mind several times before finally deciding to go with Dr. Garcia. Not one regret!

yayyyy on having a date! I changed surgeons as well, however I'm doing mine in the US. You have to be comfortable with who you're choosing, I give you credit for having the guts to go with a surgeon you've not actually met!

I wish you good luck with your journey! :)

Your surgeon shows as Dr. Pleatman, what happened? Did you switch from him because of the price or something else? Just curious and cautious too. Thanks!

My financing fell through... I couldn't afford the $11,200... I have heard great things about him!

Good to know, and I'm glad you found the right doctor and that your comfortable with it. Will you be traveling for your surgery, how long will your stay be?

It is my son who is having the surgery and I have been on this site readings all I can about the surgery and Dr. Pleatman. His surgery is scheduled for next week, May 16th, he is a self-pay, and extremely nervous about the whole thing, especially the part of waking up after the surgery. His Pre-op diet is 2 weeks and so far he's lost 15lbs. Doctor wants him to lose 20-25 lbs, don't know if he can make that mark by next week - weight lose is very slow & he's so frustrated already. But he's sticking it out and doing the best he can - I'm so proud of him. God bless you all!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
