When I had mine a few years ago it was simple. They put me to sleep bit it wasn't a deep sleep so when I woke up I felt fine. Throat was a little sore but not bad.

Don't be nervous, I just had it done not too long ago myself. I was fully sedated, woke up with no sore throat, pain or discomfort of any kind. Was a little sleepy from the procedure, went home and napped. Best of luck - you'll do fine!

I'm scared of the egd too. Have mine may 16th. I hope I am really asleep. Scary!

Melissa, it's no big deal! You are put out, and then you wake up and go. You won't remember any of it. My doctor is in the city, so after my appointment my friends and I went to ihop and then shopped the rest of the day!

Nothing to be scared of. I was a awake for mine. You can search my old posts for a play by play. My point is, it is painless and over in a about 5-10 minutes and that is only if the doctor is going slowly. You will be just fine. :-)

My egd went perfectly! Definitely nothing to be worried about. I was totally knocked out. The worst part was them sticking me for the iv! Lol

What the heck is a EGD???? And what's it have to do with gastric sleeve?

My EGD is not scheduled yet, but I've been worried about it as well. All of your responses have certainly put my mind at ease

It is a scope they put down your throat to see inside your stomach before surgery.

My dr did it after my paperwork was submitted to the insurance company...maybe your dr will schedule it at the pre-OP appt...do you have your surgery date yet?
