I have BCBS of IL I was approved in 24 hours but make sure you call them because they will simply send out a letter that you may not get for 2 weeks! I just decided to call like a week later and they said it had been approved the day after it had been sent in. They're really great.

I have BCBS of MS and I hope they will approve mine that quickly.

Did you have to go through six months of "Active Health" coaching before you were approved? I'm having to do that so it will be fall before I can have the surgery at the earliest.

I didn't have ANY pre- whatevers...they simply approved me with a BMI of 40+, my surgical coordinator said they'd just changed that and that I was "one of the lucky ones"

I asked my insurance blue shield in Oct 2012 if it was covered 3 different times they said yes all 3 times.. I've done all required tests and now have surgery date 5/10 and they are requesting 6 consecutive months of medical notes from diets, therapy etc..why didn't they mention this those 3 times I called... So frustrated. Wanted recovery to be in this exact time frame...soooo annoyed!! Anyone else have this problem?

I'm starting to get nervous reading all the denials in other threads! When I first starting looking into it, the insurance coordinator checked if my insurance covered it and what it requires me to do which was nothing but reaching a bmi number, now my dr office is submitting for approval on Wednesday and I'm nervous something just isn't going to go work... :-(

I know it's nerve racking but try not to waste the energy until you know if it's been approved. If they have no other requirements other than the over 40bmi you should be ok. I was over 40 well with no comorbidities abd mine got approved with the same insurance. What us your bmi?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
