After having the realize band placed...did anyone ever experience IBS symptoms. I have been diagnosed with Fructose Intolerance and experience a lot of IBS symptoms starting a few months after being banded. I am currently awaiting insurance approval to have the realize band removed and have the sleeve done. I have had very limited success with the band and experience IBS symptoms and pain on a daily basis as well as acid reflux. Anyone have a similar problem?

Although I have never been banded, I have suffered from IBS for the last 15 years. Having the sleeve was the best thing I could have done for my IBS. I've had maybe 3 flares in the last 5 months, which only lasted a few hours each time. I'm more "normal" now, than I've been most of my life. Sorry if that is TMI...

Music to my ears. I really hope I get the same results. I don't think I can take the stomach pains anymore. I even had to run out of a restaurant while on my honeymoon because I ate something that just went right through me.

I too have IBS. I am just starting to jump through the insurance hoops. So it will be at least six months before have anything done. I am hoping that it helps my symptoms!

I don't want to say it "cured" my IBS, but it has really calmed it down. I'm almost 100% symptom free of it.

I've never been banded either, but I've had IBS for the past couple of years. I'm hoping the sleeve will help my symptoms as well. I'm looking at a July surgery date, so it's still a little ways out for me :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
