I have a dt mountain dew everyday. It does not bother my sleeve. My Dr told me it was fine to drink as far as the carbonation not damaging your sleeve. He said some peoples stomach can tolerate it and some can't. He just said there wasn't anything nutritional about it. I am 7 months post op today, but started drinking soda at about 2 months post op.

My NUT told me pre op, 6 months go to give up diet pepsi forever. No nutritional value. I drank at least 6 a day pre op. have not touched a soda for 7 months. Diet soda is known to trick your body to hold on o fat and makes weight loss slower. I don't know if there is any truth to carbonation stretching your sleeve, but why chance it. Besides, a diet pepsi addict in recovery such as myself cant have just one.

aerated drinks

newmallika

no profile or ticker???? :o(hint hint)

"sounds" like you are a newbie???

i have led a sheltered life :(

don't know what the heck an aerated beverage is? :(

not wanting a sip of cola???!!!!

thats great!!!! :)

"MOST" dr/nut says due to carbonation you should never, ever drink any type of soda (diet or not  )

don't think about what you can't drink or eat

concentrate on what you can have, and enjoy that!!!! :)

since you didn't say otherwise - sounds like you are doing "pretty" well???

take care bud

I am a total diet coke or diet pepsi drinker. I have always quit drinking it and have gone back to it, even after hating the way it tasted when I've tried it again. I do know that I don't want to put all those nasty chemicals in my body anymore. I also know that if I take a drink of that stuff, I will continue to drink it instead of Water. So I choose not to let myself drink it again. i don't need it and there is no nutritional value to it....Plain and simple for me, I can't go back and have a drink, it is addicting to me.....That's an old habit I left behind, so I simply tell myself I don't do that anymore......I don't need to go back to the past and I really enjoy eating at restaurants and not having to spend the $3.00 for a soda. I order water with lemon and it's just perfect for me.....

I was addicted to diet coke for decades, but could get by with one a day. I changed to diet Mountain Dew because I heard that lighter colored soft drinks were better for you. Now that my work place has installed a Water and ice machine, I don't even drink Mountain Dew. I've effectively weened myself off of soft drinks altogether, and don't miss them.

I haven't been sleeved yet, and am just starting the 6 month dietary requirement. So glad this is one less dietary habit I have to worry about losing during this process.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
