I wish I could just get it over with!

All I do is sit around and dwell on my upcoming surgery in July. I obsess about it, my anxiety acts up, it's ridiculous. I just wish I could get it over with already! God I'm scared, but I want this so much.

This is a journey that needs to be appreciated. Take your time, don't worry and do some things you need to do pre op. I was so busy with all the different tests I had to endure. I was 66 years old so I should have been scared. But I kept reading this site and one other and it kept me going. Without all the kind people here I would never have had the surgery. Keep reading and just think how much weight you are going to lose. I am down 63 lbs and could never have done this. My weight is lower than it has been in 40 years.

Best of luck and please don't worry. It will be an experience like no other you have ever had.

Ok, take a deep breàth it's gonna be ok.

I too am very impatient. I decided to use the waiting period to break some bad habits.

I am down to about 6 oz of coffee in the morning.

Ingave up all carbonated beverages.

Most recently, I am eating 1 shake and 3 smaller meals a day.

I have started taking walks.

I was more worried about being bombarded with an entirely new lifestyle after the surgery.

I can't control my insurance company or the surgeons busy schedule. I can control me pre-op preparations.

Some other stuff I did was order my Protein. I got it on Amazon.com and its great.

I switched to Water bottles that have measurements on the side so I can keep track of my Water intake.

All of these little things are making me feel more in control and less nervous. I'm not even worried about the actual surgical procedure.

July will be here before you know it.

Thank you for the kind words and advice. I've been trying to start good habits and have been trying different Protein Shakes to get ready. Im nervous about the total lifestyle change too. I hope I can make enough changes now that post op won't be too traumatizing.

I am 5 1/2 weeks out and I can certainly understand. Honestly, the pre-op time was the worst. I think it is 10X harder than the recovery itself. Perhaps easy for me to say, I had a remarkably smooth surgery and recovery.

I truly think our mind is our own worst enemy.

Hang in there, your time will come and you won't look back! Except of course, to look in the mirror at your new skinny backside! :)

I'm worried about postop too. I was pissed when I found out how long the process is and ALL THE TESTS!! But looking back I'm glad the doctor made me do all of it.

I know all of my comorbities. I know all of them can go away or improve with weight loss. I know I have a good heart, no cancer or some strange illness that would have been found with all the tests. And, most important, it gave me many opportunities to back out or change my mind.

But I didn't. I went to every appointment and am 100% sure I am making the right decision. The process is worth it, but it is a pain in the butt!

I'm terrified of the endoscopy too so not looking forward to that next month. I have all my tests scheduled in may and June. Maybe that'll help keep me busy lol. I hope I have an awesome recovery too! I am quite the wimp but I did survive a c section pretty well.

I had two c-sections and I am here to tell you recovering from the sleeve is much easier! That is the honest truth. There have been lots of comments on this site over the last few months and that is the overwhelming majority of c-section patients who have also been sleeved.

You got under control! :)

I felt the same way until I started my testing. There are a lot of them so you're pretty busy from week to week with just them and you'll start to get sick of thinking about it for a while. And don't worry about the endoscopy AT ALL, it's really a piece of cake...promise! Good luck with your journey!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
