constipation

I drink Aloe Vera juice. You can find it in the health food stores or Trader Joe's. Tastes awful, but 1 small glass keeps you regular and has many health benefits. No side effects at all.

I take Cascara Sagrada. It's all natural. If I'm really stuck, I double up with that and a Fiber laxative, but you have to drink a ton of Water with the fiber lax. CS is the shit! ((laughing))

Hi,

My doctor has precribed lactulose - I hope it works - no-one told me that after the op it would be scary trying to do a poo! :help:

Yvonne, I give that to my cat--who has chronic Constipation. one day, i tasted it--just to see how awful it was (since the cat has to have it daily)...it was sweet--not too terrible! (in the liquid form).

hope it works!

how are you feeling otherwise??

best wishes,

yvonne,

can the dr. give you a sleeping pill? ambien is great stuff--i take the lowest dose and break it in half=--it gives really good sleep--and not too groggy in the morning--particularly if you follow the instructions telling you to plan to get full 7 -8 hrs of sleep.

see if the dr. will prescribe a few ambien for you!

as for me--next tues, i start the dreaded 2-wk pre-op diet. ugh.

then--1/8/07--happy new lapband to me.

how are you finding life with it??:)

best,

girlin

Hi Girlin,

I have some sedatives that are supposed to help me sleep but just aren't working, my meds changed just before the op - I'm on a new anti-depressant and think it's this that's causing the sleep problems. I'd need to ask my p-doc for ambien or similar here in the UK.

Good luck on the pre-op diet - your surgery will be over before you know it and after a week you'll be right as rain.

I'm not the best person to ask about life after lap-band at the moment. I'm eating as I did before the op and don't feel banded at all. I haven't been filled and won't be till the end of Feb - long way off - seems to be different time scales here. I'm telling myself I'll get back on track after Christmas. I was told to stay on a liquid 800 cal diet for 3 months till the first fill but I couldn't handle it because I was getting hungrier by the day. I'm not stuffing my face but I'm not losing weight either - stuck in a rut! Please don't take my experience as the norm - you'll get filled much sooner and won't have these probs.

Wishing you a peaceful christmas and a happy new year,

love,

Yvonne

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
