Phase 3 and Terrified!

I'm starting soft/blended foods today. This is so nerve wracking!

Scrambled eggbeaters and reduced fat shredded cheese.< /p>

You got this Amanda! I know how you feel, with every new stage I was so nervous. I took my time and everything went well and 4 months out I am loving it!

Thanx! I'm chewing and chewing! I made 1/2 cup of eggbeaters and added 1/4 cup of shredded reduced fat cheese. I made it half way and started hiccuping. I'm thinking I am now at capacity?

Yes when the belching or hiccuping starts that means you are done!

Oh man, I'm nervous for you! Stage three is the trickiest sounding one to me, I'm still trying to compile a list of the things I should eat when my time comes. But you'll do fine I'm sure, you seem to be possessed of more than your fair share of common sense :) Please keep us posted on your progress. Did you still feel hungry, or was it only habit that made you want to continue to eat? Is it rough not to drink along with your food? *bites and gnaws at nails with worry*

It was habit and the fact that I was "enjoying" the food that made me want to continue. That's one of the reasons I'm nervous about this part. I just remembered what Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos said about listening to my sleeve for cues. When I hiccuped I stopped. Now I'm glad I did. My brain has caught up to my stomach and confirmed I was satisfied.

And I'm thirsty. It sucks waiting for 45 minutes to drink. But I want to avoid the slimes too. I hope I can keep focused on eating right.

Plus, I had to consciously make myself chew extra good and thoroughly.

Round 1 = Success

I lived on homemade Soups and greek yogurt during that stage :) Good Luck!

good for you, but you made much to much usually a new sleeve can only hold 2-3 oz (1/4 cup) your better off eating less that it can hold unless your doctor tells you otherwise, I know it does not look like much but you have to get used to your new normal portion

remember eat very slow and chew it till its mush

remember your sleeve is trying to tell you you ate enough so lisson to it

My eyes are still bigger than my stomach. My dogs don't seem to mind that, tho. They had my back. Lol

A quick question....do you have to continue to chew till your food is mush a year out? Just wondering?

Your meal looks delish! I bet it tasted like a gourmet meal to you! How exciting!! You're on your way to a healthy new you! I can't wait till I'm where you're at. I don't even have a surgery date yet!

I'm at this stage too (surgery was 2 weeks ago today), and am still trying to figure out how much of anything to eat. So far, it seems that 1/4 cup - 1/3 cup at a time is the magic number. It takes me about 20 - 30 minutes to eat (I use my microwave a lot more now!), and I eat about every 2 or 3 hours. I start the day off with a Premier Protein shake to get a good Protein base (30g). I really like cottage cheese, and I scramble an egg with a Laughing Cow wedge, and I made the famous "ricotta bake" and love it - like lasagna without the noodles. I started tracking what time I eat and how much so I can see if any patterns emerge. I'm fortunate that I've been able to tolerate everything.

Shelly's Baked Ricotta

8 oz of Ricotta cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan

1 large Egg, beaten

1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning

salt & pepper to taste

1/2 cup Marinara Sauce

1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese

Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave.

this saved me in the early days!!! it is as good as it sounds

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
