You have to learn to listen to your body. Each person i have talked to that has the sleeve said that they have a tail. A sign that they are full. The key is to figure yours out. Mine is like a hiccup/burp. It took me a few days to figure it out. But i did. When that happens my sleeve is full. If i even try a litte bit more then im in pain. My sleeve and intestines make a lot of noise. It's my understanding that this is completely normal. I really don't think we will ever feel full like we used to. We have to re learn this also. Just try to listen to your body. One of my friends her nose runs when she is full. Another one hiccups.

Are you keeping track using any kind of spreadsheet? That helps me. Dr's orders for me are 24oz of protein fit into at least 16 oz of anything else. My spreadsheet is split by day, then by hour, in 15min increments. Pretty much every 15 min, I should be sipping on something (or Jello, sf popsicles etc), except sleeping. I try to get 20 ounces in before 2pm and 20 oz after 2pm. I was also sleeved on the 28th.

More foods I've gotten in. Cauliflower, Broccoli, chicken Breast, Cream cheese, Scrambled Egg, Land O Lakes Deli American Cheese, Broccoli & Cheddar Soup, Broths from Chicken Noodle and Vegetable, Potatoes, Melted Cheese, Zucchini, Parmesan Cheese. Of course not all at once, just as “meal time” approaches. I really can’t eat as much as they say I should be able to. I’m getting good amounts of Water and fluids in.

What other types of foods are people able to eat? I’m still in Ketosis.

I spent most of the day in the surgeon's office getting IV fluids. It's been a rough week since surgery! I have a verb painful "spasm like" sensation every time I try to drink something. In the last 4 says I've had virtually zilch to drink and it caught up to me. The surgeon put me on Carafate, Prevacid, and Reglan. I've got about two days to get better her he's admitting me to the hospital again. The good news is that the dietician advanced mg diet a little so I can at least have yogurt, pudding, Soups, puréed, etc. Hoping the next few days show improvement.

I saw the surgeon today for my 2 week follow up. He released me to go back to the gym, but no weight training. I got my first work out in. It's a far cry from where I use to be, but considering, I think it went well. 30:00 minute bike ride, 3.76 miles, 67 calories. I don't think I eat more than 500 calories a day and I am doing house/yard work so, not to bad.

Wow! You were sleeved the day before me and doing so much already. I don't have enough energy to go to the gym even if I was cleared for it. After my 1 week apt. last week I don'd see my surgeon until 1 month out. I think that's when I can start working out.

What is your diet progression like? I just started soft foods, but I looks like you're eating a variety. I want to start eating more foods because I'm so weak! But I'm scared to push it too far too soon. The veggies - did you cook until really soft? Did you puree them?

Thank you! I am suppose to start soft/solid tomorrow, but that is not going to happen. I don't feel ready yet. I steam everything until it is falling apart, or slow roast it. I was very weak too, but the more I walk and the more veggies I eat, the stronger I am feeling. I didn't puree them at all, but I smashed them until they looked like nothing at all edible. I am also eating baby food and broth still. I only try one thing at a time, and I am using these tiny little spoons from Baskin Robbins for my bite size. I am suppose to be up to 6 tablespoons already, but I can barely get 3 down.

Today was better then yesterday. The first week was horrible. Last week was alright. Tomorrow I am going to try applesauce (no sugar added) and a smashed banana. If the applesauce goes down then I will make some using the juicer, and drink the juice too.

I'm concerned about not getting any Protein in. The Protein Drinks and my tummy do not play well in the sandbox at all. I'm also trying small grated peices of sharp chedder cheese. Tonight I am making some green chili and steamed potatoes, and so far, the broth is staying down.

I've tried applesauce and it was okay. It seems my tummy doesn't like tangy things or artificial sweeteners or Protein Shakes. So that means alot of the stand-bys like sf Jello, pudding, crystal light are all out.

So far cottage cheese works, I've been eating eggs okay (I've had 1/4 of one over medium and just made some smushed up egg salad), smushed potatoes, smushed avocado, etc. It's not technically on my soft foods, but I've eaten watermelon and really ripe pear. I can't tolerate the baby food fruits, but real are okay (as long as they are smushed). I can actually have some crackers (on my list) so I have a couple with the laughing cow spreadable cheese.

I want to start tuna and fish but that isn't on my plan until week 4:( chicken is week 5 I think. I did buy some vienna sausages (not usually my kind of food - but I won't puree meat). I watched a video on You Tube and she had them during her soft phase - not hard to chew, etc. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm game. They actually have bbq and buffalo flavors. We'll see.

I'm going to pull out the juicer and try juicing as well. I just need to get some more veggies. I like carrot/apple/spinach juice. We'll see if my tummy likes it. I just really need more nutrients! I'm going to start steaming some veggies too. I worry about the Protein as well, since I can't do them. I'm just doing my best, taking my Vitamins and trying to get as much protein in with food.

Today marks 1 week post op. down 6 pounds since surgery and 14 since I started this journey. Having a hard time getting in all my Protein a day. Also having trouble going to the bathroom. I put Fiber in all my shakes. Does anyone else have this problem? And what are you doing for it? I really don't want to have to take laxatives all the time.

I'm opposite. I just came back from getting more fluids. I'm having diarrhea and they think I have the intestinal infection you can get from abdominal surgery. Then....I'm allergic to the levsin they give fir stomach spasams (I found out in the hospital as my eyes swelled shut) so I have constant stomach spasams. Still...I would do it all over. Down 10 pounds. Do you guys have the feeling your stomach is always growling? I'm on opeprazole twice a day???

My stomach spams every time I put something in my mouth! I'm now on Prevacid, Reglan, and Carafate to combat it. Not even close to getting fluids in that I need. My dietician advanced me to purees so I was able to eat a yogurt today (not without pain of course) and I'm having Soup for dinner. I'm down 17 pounds since I started my preop diet. I'm feeling a little better since getting 2 liters of IV Fluid yesterday.

My doctor said to take Colace stool softener once a day.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
