I'm just venting here. I had VSG on 11/12/12. Did really well the first 6 weeks. Once I went back to work in January, it's like the genie said "Poof! No more weight loss for you!" I have struggled and struggled. I am at my breaking point now. I have even avoided the message boards here for weeks because I get even more depressed reading about everyone's success. Nothing I try seems to work for me anymore. I am exercising like I should. I am eating what I should, and avoiding what I shouldn't be eating. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get beyond that one hash mark on the scale. I have an appointment with the surgeon next week and I really don't want to go to it. I feel like a complete failure when it comes to this surgery. I have lost 42 lbs. so far, but that was all before January. Since then - nothing! Granted, I haven't gained any either, but I still feel like a complete failure.

I was religiously logging my food on MFP, but found that if I did that, all I did was make myself feel hungry and deprived so I had to let up on being so obsessive about that. Now, I just don't know what to do. I am about ready to resign myself to the fact that I am just going to be this way the rest of my life.

Don't give up yet. It is frustrating when the scale doesn't move. Talk to your dr maybe they can give ya some tips. Have you tried upping your Water and Protein or bring your calories up for a day or so? Also have you tried to change up your workout. Sometimes our body needs a kick in the pants. Good luck.

I'm so sorry your going through this. The site can make everything seem like rainbows and butterflies at times. I am 2 weeks post today and already been stalled for more than a week. I am a little sad and trying not to be discouraged. My moms friend was in a stall similar to yours. She gave up on being anal about everything and just went about her life and a month later she had a nsv when she went to buy an outfit for some event. Turns out she was losing it all in inches during that time. She was scared to weigh herself but a week later when she got in the scale she was 8lbs down. Her stall was like 6 weeks after surgery.

I guess it happened when she stopped stressing it. Take down your measurements and am so sure your going through the same thing. and 42lbs is great CONGRATS. During that time she was only down 22lbs down. I hope it gets better. Your doc might have some good tips for you. Good Luck and please don't avoid us! This is why we are all here for the good, the bad, answers, questions, concerns, etc. GOOD LUCK AGAIN please keep me posted.

I feel ya. I posted pretty much the same thing a couple of weeks ago. A NUT advised me that at my BMI I probably wasn't getting enough Protein in. They doubled my goal and after reaching for that for the last week I have some cautious optimism. I agree with the OP, beba238, there's a lot of hearts/flower/pure success stories here that can make these long stalls just seem that much worse, especially when we're having them so soon after surgery. I don't blame you for not coming by as often. And my goal is not to make it worse for you by talking about my own scale... I would just encourage you to talk to your surgeon about the experience so far and if they're not supportive, talk to a NUT. I think that it is significant your stall started when you started back to work...

Don't give up. We've all been through too much to do that now.

I'm going through this and feeling the same way exactly so I haven't been coming to the forums as much anymore. It's an awful feeling seeing so many people drop weight on and on and I have been stuck for maybe 4 months now :( sigh

I know how you feel, had my surgery at the end of september and in the last few months the scale barely moves. At least I know why, Im stuggling with changing my eating habbits. This is so much harder than I had ever expected...

I'm going through the same thing!!! I have been at the same weight for over a month now!!!! I don't get it! And I'm working out more. I feel helpless and I feel like a loser.

Please report back what your dr recommends. Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
