I was sleeved on 3/19 and am in the puréed stage. No matter what I eat, it burns like crazy going down and then I'm burping and uncomfortable for at least 1/2 hour! Is this normal? I'm eating the recommended foods; tuna w/ light mayo, mashed potatoes, etc. Anybody else having this problem? I'm so frustrated. I've been under my calorie goal every single day because I can't stand this feeling. :( #PityPartyFor1

I have not yet been sleeved, but will be May 1st. One thing that my doc and NUT have said is that if things aren't sitting well, go back a stage. Don't rush things. Everyone heals at a different pace, and you might be still more irritated than other's at this point in their journey.

Sending you good vibes and hope you can overcome this soon!

That's a very good idea. I think I'll do that. Just do the shakes, yogurt, pudding. Thanks for that advice!! Wish I would've thought about it first!! :) Wishing you the best of luck on your surgery!!

I am going to call them tomorrow. I thought it would get better but it hasn't. I always feel like I'm bothering them when I call; they don't make me feel that way...it's just me. Congratulations on your surgery!! I am still SO happy I did it!! :)

Are you taking an acid blocker?

Also...are you using a straw when you drink? If you are then you should stop that. Straws cause you to draw too much air into your stomach...thus the burping or hiccupping.

No...I never use straws. Maybe I'm eating too fast. I don't know. I will be calling the dr tomorrow.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
