Hello fellow sleevers. I am two days post op and let me tell you, I have terrible gas that I can't get out. How long am I going to feel like this?? I've been walking and moving around as directed. Also, how long is the abdomen (site) expected to feel sore?? How about moving your bowels?? I am just overwhelmed with everything and these gas pains aren't helping at all... Any suggestions at all or feedback is well accepted. Thanks

Mel

Well I'm 6 days out and the sharp painful gas through my shoulders is gone. Thank god! I can finally take a deep breath. I still haven't had a BM yet. I see my dr on April 4th so I'm gonna ask him. I'm not too worried about it yet cause you gotta remember how much we've eaten over the past days or weeks. Take care it gets a-little better everyday

Have you tried the Gas X strips? And walk, walk and more walking. It can take up to week and half from what I've read from others for all that gas to find it's way out. Also some have used a warm heating pad. Try warm tea for your bowels and some have used liquid colace. Also pain meds will cause constiptaion.

I'm 6 days out and I feel like a new person today -just a little sore. Get up and move around, I took Gas-X chewables - not sure if they really helped or not. It will get better!!!

I was sleeved 26th. I feel pretty good but my belly is swollen and a little sore. I won't be taking any more meds though. I still have a little gas and I haven't had a BM yet. I think that's why I'm still a little nauseous. And yes heating pads are awesome. I've been freezing especially at night, through the night and. When I wake up. I put it on my lower back and if feels wonderful. I wish you a speedy recovery :)

Yes, I should be lucky that I didn't have a drain placed nor a catheter in. I was discharged yesterday from the hospital (Sunday) and I moved my bowels once there and had two episodes where I passed gas twice. Now at home, I've been urinating ok and so far I've moved my bowels twice!! I don't know if I'm forcing it out or not but I guess seeing a bowel movement is an improvement, isn't it?? I'm going to try heating pads...any other suggestions would help. Thanks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
