Well I just scheduled my date- June 24 for my VS - a bit scared and worried and suppose that will only get worse the closer I get.........still trying to learn as much as I can,,,,i know its a major change.....just need to understand the impacts and what to expect so I can best deal with it. Will have my partner here, but not sure he fully understands the changes that will occur. I am 6'3 about 400 - mainly all in the gut chest - so looking forward to getting down below 250 in time.

It's all normal emotions...& yes, I'm sure they will intensify as you get closer. I wasn't scared at all...more excited! I had to jump through insurance hoops for over 6 months..so I was READY! I LOVE my sleeve, & hopefully you will too! Idk if your partner is heavy too or not....but my hubby & i have used this as a bonding experience! he needed to loose weight to, so he is eating the high Protein with me & we are loosing together! Good luck on your journey!

This is a scary decision to make for ourselves. There's the always what if we say to ourselves. I remember the first day out asking myself if I had made a good decision and decided, "Hell yes." I couldn't change it anyways. It was done and here I am with 95% of my excess weight gone! Yep it's gone..Yay... You can do this. Work on not letting your fears get the best of you..... :P

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
