I'm still in liquid and have about 4 days until puréed. I don't have a calorie guideline from my doctor' date=' but was wondering of anyone else does?[/quote']

Amy,

this early out you need to focus more on meeting your liquid and Protein goals.

Example 64 0z liquid 60+ protein....

Calories will come into play when getting into the solid stage.

So you will build up to around 600 to 1000

P.S. thanks for the apology.....

Nope no calorie counting here. I track my Protein and fluids, that's all. I really doubt you will be eating enough for calories to be a concern. I'm certainly not. Maybe 1/3 can of tuna puréed or an egg with tbsp of light mayo. That's kind of it.

What everyone else said.

Until you're on real food I'd just worry about staying hydrated and having a Protein focus.

After that I hovered around 600 - 800 for months. I'm 20 weeks out now and sit on around 1000, sometimes more sometimes less - I just listen to my body and what I need. Who would've thought Id be able to do that?? ;):P:)

No actual counting, but I kept a journal for awhile.

Actually, I have probably kept a journal for about 90% of the time but for different reasons - however, never for calories.

If you feel the need to watch your calories that is OK - but don't get trapped into the diet mentality. You are not on a diet, you are learning a different way of eating and being, and it will evolve.

I just want to echo what everyone has already said. Focus on your liquids and Protein, for now. The sleeve will take care of you. Just start getting in the habit of tracking everything in MFP or something of the like.

I never was a BIG calorie counter. I knew my sleeve would restrict me and that is why I had the procedure. If I wanted to go on another diet, I probably wouldn't have gotten sleeved.

I agree.

There's a big difference between counting calories and restricting yourself.

I record on MFP and I place no greater emphasis on calories than Protein or carbs or Vitamins. It's all information.

I never feel deprived anymore. I came off a week of night work yesterday and hit 1300 cals for the day, the most calories I have had since being sleeved. I didn't beat myself up or think 'oh my god I've streached my sleeve!' :P It was obviously what I needed while transitioning back to a more normal routine.

Long story short, try and find something that is going to work for you for a lifetime. This isn't a silver bullet and managing our health is something we will always have to do - like everyone else :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
