I had surgery three weeks ago. I was 197 on the day if surgery and I'm 182 today. Some people may think that's a slow loss but I'm ok with it. But the scale hasn't moved in a few days. I'm eating about 500 calories a day and get between 50-75g of Protein a day. I get nearly 60oz of Fluid and I'm exercising too. Anything else I can do to get the scale to budge?

You have to just continue doing what you should and wait it out.... I was 2 weeks out when it completely stopped moving. I mean it did not move an ounce for 2 1/2 weeks and I was soooooo upset. I started having all the "this is not going to work for me" and "why did I do this" thoughts and then it started again and quickly. I am now 8 months out and have not had another period of no loss like that. Your body has to adjust and see that you are not in some kind of crisis. It can't hold out forever so you just have to continue your journey and know that this is a marathon, not a sprint. I promise it will continue to fall off soon! Hang in there!! :)

I too enjoyed the typical 3 week stall a little early as mine hit after week 2. It moved again pretty quickly. You're doing everything right. The scale will move again.

You know, i hear all the time about the "dreaded first stall", and i've never been very concerned with it. I have hit my first stall and am currently in it. But it really doesn't bother me at all. I knew it was going to happen, and that it will end and i will continue to drop weight. My nut described it this way to me: Your body has gone through a huge trauma, and you are dropping weight quickly, so your body will kind of stall things every so often to make sure that everything is ok, and that it doesn't have to do something different to keep you healthy. Once it has found that all is alright and you are getting the nutrition you need, it will stop and you will lose again. Please do not think i am putting down anybody who has a difficult time with this stage, as i am not at all, just sharing my own thoughts on the process. So to anyone struggling with this, hang in there it wont last forever!!!

Glad to know I am not the only one who has stalled. I was sleeved March 7th and lost 13 lbs by my 2 week follow up. I haven't lost an ounce since last week. Started my puréed foods last Friday, getting my Protein and Water in and walking a lot. I told myself I'm not getting discouraged. It will come off.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
