daily caloric count

At 5 months post op, how many calories are you eating in one day? I just put mine at 1200 yesterday on myfitnesspal, but sometimes I eat more.

Just curious...

I can eat 1600 a day easy. I need to go down to 1200. i don't do Protein Shakes. Is that my problem? If I drank moire I would not be able to eat as much right? I am a former bander and actually have enjoyed my sleeve allowing me to be more normal, which has backfired slightly. I am still losing but VERY slow. Actually none in 2 weeks. I eat carbs too. I need to do 2 Protein shakes a day and go protein only right? Can somebody repost the guidelines? My doc is very lenient and I don't have a NUT.

There are no specific "guidelines" as every Dr. or nutritionist follows a different path. Your best bet, sans a nutritionist, is to work out a plan that works best for your body and the amount of weight that you need to lose. For example, for me I am at 1100 calories with a 2 to 1 Protein to carb ratio. That might not work for some (actually isn't doing me a lot of good either). I might suggest that you find a nutritionist in your area. Many gyms either have one on staff or know where you can find one. Many hospitals offer nutritional counseling as part of a wellness service. Even the local YMCA does it. It would be good to at least have a conversation that would get you going in the right direction. Trying to do this on your own, is going to be extremely difficult.

I second this, with the addition that it would be even better if you can find one with experience in dealing with weight loss surgery patients, as he or she should have a good idea of the nutritional challenges involved.

I maintain at 1200 calories per day, give or take 50. I never took in more than 800 when I was losing. This works for me. I get all my Protein in with food, I hated anything Protein shake'ish :) so by 2.5 months post-op, I did it all with eggs, 1% cottage cheese, steamed shrimp, tuna....the usual stuff.

The hospital where I had surgery has two registered dietitians, who do nothing but deal with WLS patients. They don't focus on carbs at all unless a patient isn't losing. I was afraid I was going to have to watch something else on MFP - luckily that isn't the case!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
