No you're fine, dilaudid is the strongest narcotic on the market, most of my patients beg for it. It's just way too strong for me.

Yes I've had breast augmentation without any pain pills.. I took aleve for 2 days then I dident need anything afterward... I suppose this surgery is a little more intense... But hopefully I won't need them

I mean while you are in the hospital, immediately post operative. I also had breast augmentation at an out-patient facility, it was easy peasy. When I got home after the sleeve surgery I took medication 2 times and that was it. The first day however was a different story. You probably have a higher pain tolerance than I do, you're braver than me girl!!

Honestly by the time I got home I felt like a champ. I started walking the day after I got home. The most pain I had was the gas, and the one thing that helps that is walking, But like I said the first day I felt like the little girl in the exorcist.

Lol... Yea I heard that walking is the best. Plus I don't want to have excess skin so walking may be my best friend lol

Oh no I don't want any narcotics! Just aleve

Aleve is an NSAID . You won't be able to have that after VSG!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
