Mine have been out of whack ever since surgery 9 months ago. Doctor confirmed that I have elevated hormones most likely caused by surgery. Next Tuesday I go in for a D&C and an ablasion. Hopefully I will be through with periods after that!

I have endometriosis, and polycystic ovary. I had an ablation in 2008 and was told I probably would never have another period. Lo and behold, 4 days post op, one of the worst periods ever graced its presence. So glad I had the Tylenol 3 on board! Now I don't feel like something is wrong, looking at everyone else's responses

hi. ok so i know this sounds supper crazy. if I waz reading it id think so to....but about 4 days post op I startd "my period" however its not due plus it is supper light where usally its heavy and its yellowish brown and smells funny...so i wonder if this is my period or what.??? For a minute I wondered if it could be bleeding that was going into the drain until it was pulld then it had to go somewhere so came out vaginal....especially since u hear of girls getting their "period" post op all the time ???

any ideas???

Yup. Happened to me. I've been on the pill continuously (meaning not taking the week of placebo pills to spur on a menstrual cycle) for well over a decade and I bled for the first time a few weeks after surgery. First period in like 15 YEARS while still taking the same dose of BC continuously.

My gyno said I may need to increase to a higher dose if it kept happening but luckily it lasted only a week and hasn't come back!

Ended up I didn't need the D&C but I did have the ablation and haven't even have the spotting that was expected from the procedure. Hope this is a good sign that I am through with periods!

I have always had regular periods and was on Lo-ogestrel prior to and after surgery. However, a little less than a month after surgery, I literally got a period that was insanely heavy and lasted for 3 weeks. Needless to say, I completely freaked out and went to the OB/GYN to see what the story was. She said that metabolizing so much fat can often increase our hormone levels, which can make our periods go wonky (lovely). After a few more months of weirdness, I decided to take a break from the pills to try and regulate everything naturally. I'm back to having regular and much lighter periods.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
